Spooky Seaking and Goldeen: A Pokemon Fan's Undead Creations

Unleash your inner creativity as a Pokémon fan and discover the hauntingly beautiful zombified forms of Seaking and Goldeen from the Kanto region, created by one talented player Witness these water-type Pokémon in a new light and experience the eerie transformation for yourself

A Pokemon enthusiast has envisioned how some pocket monsters would appear as zombies. Recently released in November 2022, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have become one of the top-selling games on Nintendo Switch. As the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, players have been eager to display their own takes on Pokemon. Over the years, supporters have given well-known creatures different makeovers and interpretations. One amusing example includes a gamer who transformed two fairy-type Pokemon into human beings.

On Reddit, a user named Macksi has participated in the ‘Change one letter to create a new Pokemon challenge’ by sharing their take on two Kanto water-types, Goldeen and Seaking. Macksi’s interpretation has transformed the fish into zombified versions called Moldeen and Reaking. While Moldeen still retains its signature orange markings, broken horn, and scar across the face, Reaking has undergone a drastic change with a green body, decaying fins, and a vacant eye. The post has received numerous compliments and suggestions for future creations. Some even went as far as creating Pokedex entries, attributing the monsters’ existence to the pollution in their habitat. Although these ghastly creations fit in with the theme of death in the Pokemon world, it is unlikely that Game Freak, the developers of the series, would introduce a new zombie-type class of creature.

Game Freak and the Pokemon Company are developing a way to connect Pokemon Home with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. With the upcoming 3.0 update, players will be able to store monsters caught in both games, and even transfer compatible monsters to their save files to complete their Pokedex. This compatibility will also be useful when The Teal Mask and Indigo Disk expansions are released, as they will introduce even more Pokemon to the Paldea region, allowing players to start collecting creatures from other regions early on.
