The screenplay for the series was written by Noboru Kimura, with Tomoko Sudo in charge of designing the anime characters and Hirotaka Tokuda responsible for designing the monsters. The story is set in a world that underwent a dramatic transformation a decade ago when a "gate" appeared, connecting the world to a realm of magic and monsters.
Conventional weapons are ineffective against these monsters, but some humans have been granted supernatural powers and are known as "hunters." The plot centers around Sung Jin-Woo, who tirelessly hunts monsters in low-rank Gates to pay for his mother's medical expenses and his sister's education.
