Snoop Dogg surprises the world by joining NBC's coverage of the upcoming Paris Olympics, adding a unique and unexpected twist to the prestigious event

The 2024 Paris Olympics are fast approaching and some of the world's top sports stars are gearing up for this prestigious event. Joining them in an unexpected role is none other than Snoop Dogg. The rapper, actor, and entrepreneur will be heading to Paris this summer as a Special Correspondent for NBC's primetime Games coverage, alongside Olympics host Mike Tirico, as announced by the network.

Starting on July 26, he plans to "explore the famous landmarks of the city, attend Olympic competitions and events, and meet with the athletes, their friends, and families," as reported by NBC.

"I have been a fan of the Olympics since I was a child and I am excited to witness the amazing athletes showcase their talent in Paris. It is a tribute to their hard work, devotion, and striving for excellence," the musician expressed in a statement.

"We are going to have incredible competitions and, of course, I will bring my unique Snoop style to the mix. It's going to be the most memorable Olympics ever, so stay tuned and keep it locked in. Let's elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable. Let's outshine the competition and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic love, you feel me?" Snoop added.

This will not be the first time the star has provided Olympic commentary. For the Covid-delayed Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, he teamed up with comedian Kevin Hart to deliver wildly popular highlight commentary for Peacock.

"In every day's uncertain future, we can always count on him to bring his unique perspective to our newly envisioned Olympic primetime show," said Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production in a statement.
