Ed Sheeran was left in a state of utter bliss and hunger after indulging in a marijuana session with the legendary Snoop Dogg. The 32-year-old singer, known for his hit song "Eyes Closed" that paid homage to his late friend Jamal Edwards, opened up to the renowned interviewer Nardwuar about his unforgettable experience with the 51-year-old Snoop.
“I no longer indulge in smoking,” Sheeran revealed during the interview. “We were all in the dressing room—him, Russell Crowe, and I. It seemed they both took great pleasure in smoking weed together. Realizing that if I were to partake, my evening would come to an abrupt end.”
After conversing with rap legend Snoop Dogg, Sheeran decided to join the circle, considering the legality of recreational cannabis in 23 states and the District of Columbia. Fully aware of the situation, he thought, "Why not? When in Rome." However, things took an unexpected turn as he found himself unable to see after lighting up.
During his conversation with Nardwuar, Sheeran confirmed that he received a chain from Snoop. "I indeed possess a Death Row chain," stated the "Shape of You Singer." However, he clarified that he was not signed to Death Row Records, as Snoop had acquired it in 2022. Sheeran mentioned, "I am currently unsigned. This upcoming album [Autumn Variations] is my first release under my own label."
Autumn Variations marks Ed's debut on Gingerbread Man Records, which he established with Warner Music Group in 2015. Noteworthy acts such as Maisie Peters, Foy Vance, and Jamie Lawson have also released music under the Gingerbread Man banner.
To celebrate the release of Autumn Variations, Sheeran organized a joyful pub crawl throughout New York City. The singer visited several bars in the bustling Big Apple during rush hour, but was disappointed by the lackluster atmosphere. Recognizing that the people he encountered were simply trying to unwind after work, Sheeran decided to relocate to a place where the energy was vibrant and exciting.
After hopping on a subway train, Sheeran ended up in the lively East Village. He and his entourage completely took over Off The Wagon, enthusiastically serving shots to the delighted patrons and reveling in the fun until closing time.
