Sisters' Unexpected Twist: Briana DeJesus Leans on Brittany to Adopt Daughter Stella Amid Co-Parenting Turmoil

Assisting her sister, Briana DeJesus, in a significant manner, Brittany DeJesus is stepping in to address the ongoing challenges she faces with Stella's father.
In a preview of the September 27th episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, 29-year-old Briana approaches her sister Brittany, 31, with a significant proposal.
"You're aware that Luis hasn't been involved much," Briana confides in her sister and their mom, Roxanne DeJesus, regarding Stella's father, Luis Hernandez. "There's an option for a close relative to adopt Stella. I was wondering if Brittany would consider doing that for me."
Roxanne appears shocked while Brittany confidently responds, stating, "Yes, count me in. I am a strong and drama-free mother."
Without giving Roxanne a chance to speak, Brittany, who recently got engaged, interjects to clarify that she and Briana have always had a well-thought-out parenting strategy for their children. (Briana also has a 12-year-old daughter named Nova from her previous relationship with Devoin Austin.)
"Ever since Briana had children, she consistently expressed that if anything were to happen to her, I would be responsible for taking care of the kids," Brittany shares, looking towards her sister. "You didn't even need to ask because it goes without saying. I could've woken up tomorrow and you would've said, 'You're a mother' and my response would have been, 'Okay.' It's a no-brainer." Nova and Stella are "the closest thing spiritually and emotionally" that Brittany has to her own children, she adds.

For Brittany, this means that Stella “will go straight to you,” Briana explains. “She wouldn’t go to Luis.”
However, their mom disagreed, stating that they were unaware of the circumstances in Luis' life that could be causing his inconsistency with his daughter.
"I believe you shouldn't dismiss Luis so hastily," Roxanne points out, although Briana mentions that she is already doing so and has scheduled an appointment.

Briana and Luis' coparenting struggles have been a long-standing topic for Teen Mom fans. In a recent episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Briana shared a heartbreaking moment when Stella, their daughter, cried and pleaded for Luis to take her to a special daddy-daughter dance. Despite the situation, Briana expressed her disappointment that she and her sister Brittany were the ones constantly reaching out to Luis, instead of the other way around. She revealed that it had been six months since Luis had last seen their daughter.
