Savanah Brown, the sister of Sister Wives star Garrison Brown, recently shared her feelings about coping with the loss of her brother.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on March 19, 19-year-old Savanah opened up about the tragic event that occurred two weeks prior. She revealed that her older brother Garrison, who was 25 years old, had taken his own life on March 5.
Despite the difficulty in comprehending the situation, Savanah expressed that she finds solace in knowing that her brother Garrison is now free from pain.
Savanah often notices signs of Garrison in her daily life. Whenever she sees a car that resembles his, she briefly thinks it might be him returning from work before remembering that he is no longer here. Making PB&Js and gazing at the night sky also bring memories of him.
In conclusion, Savanah hopes that anyone reading her words realizes the immense impact their absence would have. She encourages them to stay strong for their family, friends, and loved ones who care deeply for them.
Savanah’s recent post included a childhood photo of her brother Garrison holding her as a baby, as well as more recent pictures from his travels. They are two of the six children of Kody Brown and Janelle Brown, along with Logan, 29, Maddie, 27, Hunter, 27, and Gabriel, 22.
Janelle, who is 54, and Kody, who is 55, shared the heartbreaking news of Garrison’s passing in a joint statement on Instagram earlier this month. They revealed that he had died by suicide. "He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. His absence has left a huge void in our lives that is truly overwhelming," the former couple wrote along with photos of their son on March 5. "We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn his loss and celebrate his memory."
Soon after, we got hold of a police report that showed Janelle's worries about Garrison. This was triggered by a text he had sent to some individuals who are connected to the Brown family. In the message, he expressed conflicting emotions, saying, "I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can’t. I miss these days."
Upon receiving this message, Janelle urged her children to reach out to Garrison. It was Gabriel who ultimately discovered his brother's lifeless body in his home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Several Sister Wives stars have paid tribute to Janelle and Kody’s late son, Garrison. Christine Brown described him as a “wonderful, caring brother” in an Instagram post, while Meri Brown mentioned that he brought brightness to the lives of those who knew him in her own Instagram post.
Garrison was laid to rest in a funeral on March 9. His half-sister Mykelti Brown shared that this was a rare occasion where their entire family came together after many years. Mykelti, one of Kody and Christine’s six children, expressed that Garrison would have wanted them to continue living their lives and pursuing their goals, even after his passing.
Maddie shared in an Instagram video on Monday, March 18, that mental health was a significant factor in Garrison’s passing. She expressed her belief that there needs to be more dialogue and awareness surrounding mental health issues. Maddie emphasized that Garrison's death was not a result of bullying or lack of love, but rather a struggle with mental health. She pledged to keep discussing mental health and self-care to raise awareness and understanding among people.
