Meri Brown is contemplating the concept of trust following her separation from ex-husband Kody Brown. The 52-year-old Sister Wives star shared in a TikTok video on Friday, June 30, that she's been reflecting on trust and its components of transparency and consistency over time. While emphasizing the importance of trust in building relationships with others, she also highlighted the need to cultivate self-trust, which is often overlooked.
As Meri delved deeper into her thoughts on the topic, she admitted to struggling with trusting her instincts. According to her, she often finds herself rationalizing why she should trust herself in certain situations, even though deep down, her gut instinct knows best. Meri told her fans that it takes courage to be true and authentic to oneself, allowing her to do and say what she knows she needs to do. Ultimately, when she trusts herself and acts on that trust, it empowers her in the long run.
While she didn't mention her ex-husband by name, Meri specifically addressed the feeling of certainty in a romantic relationship. She mentioned the importance of trust, both in hoping the other person won't leave or break their word. However, she emphasized that it's even more crucial to trust oneself to handle it when the other person doesn't act as expected.
Meri and Kody, who share a son named Leon, legally married in 1990. In 1993, Kody spiritually married Janelle Brown, and a year later, he entered a spiritual union with Christine Brown. In 2014, Meri and Kody divorced in order for him to legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her children. Despite their legal separation, Kody and his first wife remained together spiritually.
In November 2021, Kody and Christine announced their split, causing a stir among their blended family, which includes 18 children. During a December 2022 episode of the Sister Wives: One-on-One special, Meri revealed that Kody had already decided to end their marriage without discussing it with her. Janelle also disclosed during the special that she and Kody had been separated for several months.

One thing I am constantly working on is trusting my own instincts. There are many times when I can convince myself of a certain reality, even though deep down my intuition tells me otherwise. It is far too easy for me to let other people's opinions and actions sway what I truly believe in, which ultimately strips away my power and places it in someone else's hands. Remember, you are the best judge of your own needs, desires, and worth. Have faith in yourself every step of the way. Rise to your greatness starting today. WorthyUp.

While Christine is newly engaged to David Woolley and Janelle is focused on her family, Meri has embraced her her independence in the wake of her and Kody’s breakup.
"Building businesses. Building friendships. Building an extraordinary life. All while embracing my freedom," she shared on Instagram in February.
Three months later, Meri embarked on an empowering journey to the United Kingdom, which included several days of independent exploration. "Venturing into the unknown. It's what ignites my passion. Embracing new destinations. Embracing new connections. Embracing spontaneous adventures," the TLC personality captioned an Instagram selfie during that time. "Embracing the excitement of building businesses while enjoying myself! Embracing the unexpected! Embracing a week of clarity and personal growth. Embracing the opportunity to finally visit my lifelong fascination! London, here I come!"
Meri's self-centeredness has prompted other members of her family to ponder what her future holds. Gwendlyn Brown, Christine and Kody's 21-year-old daughter, expressed her belief that Meri should have multiple husbands, stating that she has the personality to thrive in such a dynamic. This revelation came during Gwendlyn's YouTube video in May, where she was rewatching an episode from the first season of Sister Wives.
