During the recent episode of Sister Wives, Christine Brown openly discussed her thoughts on the future of her relationship with Kody Brown, as well as the overall state of their polygamist family, with Janelle Brown. The conversation between the 51-year-old Christine and the 54-year-old Janelle delved into the ups and downs they have experienced with Kody, highlighting the strained dynamics within the family. Curious about Janelle's current mindset, Christine inquired if Kody was aware of where Janelle stood emotionally in their relationship. Janelle didn't hesitate to express her true feelings.

"She mentioned that she tells him and engages in conversation, but she doubts if he is really comprehending," she shared. Christine chimed in, "I believe he has transitioned into being strictly monogamous now."

To Christine's astonishment, Janelle concurred - a rare occurrence. "This is the first instance where Janelle has agreed with me about Kody embracing monogamy," she expressed during a confessional.

Janelle, on the other hand, voiced to the cameras that Kody had embraced the single-partner lifestyle with his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. She speculated that he may have made this transition some time ago, but had been trying to fulfill his obligations to his plural family. Janelle further expressed her indifference towards the situation, stating, "If I cared, it would bother me. But I don't care. I really don't." In reference to Kody and Robyn, aged 45, Janelle playfully remarked, "They can have each other."

In 2010, the reality show Sister Wives premiered, featuring the addition of Robyn to the family. At that time, Kody was legally married to Meri Brown and had spiritual unions with Christine and Janelle. However, four years later, he made significant changes to his relationships by divorcing Meri, 52, in order to legally marry Robyn and adopt her children from a previous marriage. (He and Meri continued their spiritual relationship until their recent split this year.) In November 2021, Christine became the first sister wife to leave the family, announcing her breakup. She has since moved forward with her new husband, David Woolley, whom she recently wed in Utah.

Throughout season 18 of Sister Wives, the strained relationship between Janelle and Kody has taken center stage. In a September episode, the couple had a significant altercation, which Janelle revealed on Sunday had essentially brought their marriage to an end. (She officially confirmed their breakup in December 2022.)

"Everything was going well until recently," she told Christine. "Then I started noticing a change in myself. I realized I needed something new... I keep thinking that there should be more excitement, but deep down I feel ready for a change."

Janelle described her separation from Kody as "friendly," but Christine had her doubts. "I witnessed the argument," she playfully revealed in a confessional.

Janelle noticed a newfound sense of peace when Kody wasn't around as their tension peaked. Kody, on the other hand, seemed to be leaning towards the idea of having only one spouse. On the Sunday episode, he admitted that his focus revolved around his household with Robyn and she was pushing him to mend his relationships with Meri and Janelle. He expressed that when he was with them, he didn't feel any spark or connection.

Kody pondered the unusual dynamics within his family, remarking, "It's strange how I have a loving marriage, but also deal with various conflicts at different levels. It's difficult to make sense of it all."

In an exclusive interview with We magazine's inaugural Reality Stars of the Year issue, Kody provided an update on his relationship with Janelle. "As time goes on, things can change, and by approaching it with grace and forgiveness, perhaps one can discover love in the end, even if it means not remaining in the marriage," he shared with Us.

Sister Wives airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
