The Big Picture
Sicario 3 is in the works and producers hope to bring back Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro.
Benicio Del Toro is currently the most heavily involved in Sicario 3, while the main trio eagerly anticipates the story. Coordinating the shooting schedules of the three main stars, especially Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin, may pose a challenge.
For fans of Sicario, the news of a Sicario 3 in the works is exciting enough. However, Molly Smith and Trent Luckinbill, the franchise producers, have more to share in their recent interview with Our website as they promote their Netflix film Reptile. They revealed their plans to bring back Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame), and Benicio Del Toro (Reptile). Blunt's return is particularly intriguing since her character was absent in Sicario: Day of the Soldado.
Smith and Luckinbill informed our Editor-in-Chief, Steve Weintraub, that Del Toro is currently the most involved with Sicario 3, as they extensively discussed it while working on Reptile. However, this does not mean that Blunt and Brolin are left in the dark. Smith confirmed that the main trio is fully on board and eager to return to conclude this portion of the story.
"Our aim is to reunite the cast, consisting of Benicio, Emily, and Josh, as we have an exceptional story to share. Benicio, having worked with us most recently, is currently the most closely connected to the project. However, we are keeping all the talented individuals involved updated. They have remained closely involved. As Trent mentioned, the strike has only caused a slight delay in the final draft, but there is great enthusiasm among everyone. Each person is aware of the story's framework and eagerly awaiting the completion of our shooting draft."
Could Shooting Schedules Set Back The Production of 'Sicario 3'?

The shooting schedules of the three main stars could pose a challenge for Sicario 3. Blunt, known for her blockbuster roles, may have difficulty finding time to fit in the film. Brolin, who leads the Apple TV+ series Outer Range, is also busy with his commitments. However, if the trio is willing to return, the production team will likely find a solution to align their schedules. It is worth noting that the actors' strike is still ongoing, meaning that filming won't commence until SAG-AFTRA reaches a fair agreement with the AMPTP.
Smith and Luckinbill didn't provide any specific information about the Sicario 3 script, but it's clear that the upcoming thriller will once again delve into the moral dilemmas faced by FBI agents working on the Mexican border and confronting local cartels. The film series fearlessly exposes the corruption that taints the characters' delicate connections and the perils involved in uncovering too much information, whether from criminals or the local police. As of now, there is no director attached to Sicario 3, but stay tuned to Our website for updates.
To watch the first Sicario, you have the option to rent or buy it on Prime Video. Additionally, Sicario: Day of the Soldado can be streamed on Hulu.
