Sibling Strain: Janelle Brown Reveals Limited Connection Between Kody and Their Sons Since the Rift

Janelle Brown remains optimistic about achieving "peace" between her ex-husband Kody Brown and their sons Gabriel and Garrison Brown, but progress has come to a halt.

"Unfortunately, there has been very little progress," Janelle, 54, revealed exclusively to We on Monday, November 20, regarding the relationship between father and sons.

Sister Wives' star mentioned that her husband Kody, 54, has a relationship with their teenage daughter, but that is the extent of his relationship with their six children. The pair's children are Logan, 29, Maddie, 27, Hunter, 26, Garrison, 25, Gabriel, 21, and Savanah, 18.

Janelle informed Us that their youngest, Savanah, still spends time with her father even though they live in Flagstaff, Arizona. She expressed hope that over time, Gabriel and Garrison may reconcile with their father.

She expressed her hope for a peaceful resolution, emphasizing the impact of strained relationships, especially between parents and children. In the latest season of Sister Wives, which aired in late 2022 and was filmed in late 2021, viewers witnessed Kody's conflict with his sons Gabriel and Garrison over his COVID-19 rules.

In one episode, Kody informed Janelle that if the boys did not apologize for their actions, which included allegedly mistreating his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, they would not be invited to family events. While Kody later retracted this demand in a season 18 episode, the conflict persisted. Throughout the current season, viewers witnessed Kody's strained relationship with the boys exacerbating Janelle's difficulties with her estranged husband.

In December 2022, Janelle announced that she and Kody had been separated for several months following a heated argument during the holiday 2021 season, as documented in season 18. This split followed Christine Brown's announcement in November 2021 that she had parted ways with the patriarch. Additionally, Kody's first wife, Meri Brown, confirmed in January that their romance was over, however, he is still married to Robyn, 46.

During the season, Janelle expressed her concerns about her kids' mental health due to the family drama. She mentioned that Gabriel feels everything very deeply but doesn't say anything, and Garrison seems angrier and sadder, not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be, as seen in an October episode filmed in 2022.

Kody addressed the issues with his and Janelle’s sons in a November episode of the TLC series, expressing his sadness about not being close to Gabriel and Garrison anymore. Janelle told Us that Kody is not currently speaking with most of her children, but she also acknowledged that he was a good dad to them as they were growing up.
