Clayton Echard has received confirmation from a paternity test that he is not the biological father of his ex-partner's twin babies.
In an Instagram video on Friday, October 6, Echard, 30, shared his joyous news, saying, "Today, I have some great news to share, which is perfect for a Friday. The test results came back early and showed very little to no fetal DNA. Let's celebrate! I always had a feeling this would be the outcome, and now, after five months of anguish, I can finally put it all behind me."
He stated, "Having faced two false accusations within a span of two years, I find it unsettling to think about what may transpire next year. In my opinion, enduring two false accusations in a lifetime should be more than sufficient. This has been an arduous period, but it has taught me a great deal about myself, and now I can resume my usual routine." (Apart from the controversy surrounding paternity, Echard is also alluding to the unfounded allegations of infidelity made against him by his then-girlfriend Susie Evans in 2022.)
Despite Echard's denial of fatherhood, a 33-year-old anonymous woman contradicted him by asserting in a statement to We on Friday that the former reality television personality is "dishonestly" refuting the test results.
According to the woman, the lab has informed her that the test is not inconclusive, despite what Clayton says. She explains that there is an ongoing issue with her sample and they require another sample from her, which she will provide on Wednesday. She further explains that a testing kit needs to be sent from Maryland to Arizona, causing a delay and preventing her from getting the test done on Monday. The woman also mentions speaking with Brett, an employee at Ravgen, who clarified that the test is not inconclusive but rather ongoing, and they need an additional sample to complete it.
"Brett informed Clayton that even if the result were to return 'inconclusive' later on, it does not necessarily imply that I am not pregnant. Brett also acknowledges that he has misguided his supporters by making such statements," she concluded.
In recent weeks, it was reported that an unidentified woman filed legal papers alleging that Echard impregnated her during a casual encounter. However, the former Bachelor refuted these claims in a statement to the media, stating, "We did not engage in sexual intercourse."
Despite Echard's denial, the woman insisted on him undergoing a paternity test before her twins are born in February 2024. According to the filing on August 1, she stated that she had engaged in sexual activity with Echard on May 20 and had not been with anyone else since March 2022, implying that he must be the father of the twins. She also claimed to have taken two at-home pregnancy tests before confirming her pregnancy at an urgent care facility on June 1.
Echard reportedly doubted the woman's pregnancy even after she sent him a copy of her test results in June. Later that month, she alleged that he asked her to visit him so he could verify her honesty through another test. The next day, he supposedly messaged her, saying, "I wanted you to come over to confirm what I was doubting. And you did confirm that. So, I don't see you as a liar anymore."

According to the woman, Echard initially agreed to undergo a paternity test in August but later backed out after she paid a $725 deposit. However, Echard disputed her claims and stated that he had actually been requesting a paternity test himself. He dismissed the woman's allegations as baseless and didn't give them much importance. Eventually, on September 26, he agreed to proceed with the paternity test.
Echard claimed in the court documents that the case was baseless and lacked validity, and therefore, he requested to be awarded attorney fees. He reiterated once again that he and the unnamed woman never engaged in sexual intercourse. A court date was scheduled for September 28 for an early resolution conference.
Echard entered Bachelor Nation when he competed for Michelle Young's affection on the 18th season of The Bachelorette in 2021. The following year, he became the Bachelor for the 26th season. After Evans rejected his final rose during the finale, which aired in March 2022, the two reconciled briefly after filming but ultimately announced their separation in September 2022. Echard later disclosed that the emotional toll from the fallout of the show contributed to their breakup.
