Haley Ferguson and Oula Palve have faced challenges with fertility during their initial year of marriage. In a recent TikTok video, the 30-year-old Bachelor alum shared her journey, mentioning a hysteroscopy to remove a polyp from her uterus. She also revealed that she is currently undergoing IUI, the initial step before considering IVF. IUI helps stimulate ovulation and ensures the timing is optimal for conception.
Ferguson, who got married to the professional hockey player in June 2022, shared that she has already completed her initial round of intrauterine insemination (IUI), during which she was prescribed letrozole and progesterone. Unfortunately, the procedure was not successful. However, she is determined to undergo another round in hopes that the second attempt will be a success. The Bachelor in Paradise alum, who recently became an aunt to her twin sister's son, Beckham, in May, explained that she tries to maintain a positive outlook on her fertility journey. Nevertheless, the process has been incredibly emotionally draining and has taken a toll on her.
“The past year has been incredibly challenging for Haley as she and her partner have been trying to conceive,” she revealed during the interview. “The disappointment of seeing negative pregnancy tests has become all too familiar. It's almost as if they no longer affect her, as if she anticipated the outcome and wasn't surprised at all.”
"It can be extremely exhausting and disheartening," Haley Ferguson expressed. "However, I am determined to maintain a strong sense of positivity as I embark on the second round of IUI. The success rate tends to improve slightly with each subsequent attempt, so I'm hopeful for better outcomes."
Haley, who is experiencing a blocked fallopian tube affecting her ovulation, expressed the challenges she has faced with her IUI medication. She shared that it has caused her to feel bloated and gain weight, resulting in a sense of discomfort and a lack of confidence.
In her social media post, she opened up about not feeling like herself. Haley acknowledged that these changes are a normal part of the process, but it can be difficult as a woman to accept them. She reflected on the frustration of wanting to get pregnant, which is something she believes she should naturally be able to do, but is not happening for her. This struggle has left her feeling insecure.
Despite her concerns about her inability to conceive, Haley expressed in her TikTok caption that she firmly believes her "moment is approaching" to start a family.
Haley and Palve, who relocated to Finland, the birthplace of the former Pittsburgh Penguins player, just before celebrating their first wedding anniversary this month, had previously disclosed to We magazine their desire to have two or three children.
"We simply want to savor the joys of our marriage," shared the former cast member of Twins: Happily Ever After in an exclusive interview with Us in June 2022, discussing their plans for starting a family. "Although we won't actively pursue parenthood immediately after our wedding, we will embrace whatever comes our way and find happiness in any outcome."
