Clayton Echard is one step closer to finding out if he’s the father of his pregnant ex’s twins.
"Hello everyone! Today, I want to provide an update to those who are following along. I feel the need to keep you all informed and be as open as possible," the former Bachelor, aged 30, began an Instagram Story video on Tuesday, October 3. "Last week, I completed my part of the paternity test, and I just received information that the other individual took their test this morning."
He continued to explain that the test results are anticipated to arrive "next week, either on Monday or Tuesday." He further stated, "The results could be a definitive yes or no, or it could also be inconclusive."
Initially unsure about the meaning of an "inconclusive" test result, Echard clarified that if there is very little or no fetal DNA detected, it would lead to an inconclusive outcome. He also mentioned that he has an injunction against harassment hearing scheduled for Monday. However, he assured everyone that the results of the test itself should be available by Monday or Tuesday, and he will promptly share the information once he receives it.
Last month, news surfaced that an unidentified former partner of Echard filed a lawsuit in August, alleging that she is pregnant with his twins after a one-night encounter. The 33-year-old woman asserted that she has not been sexually involved with anyone else since March 2022, making Echard the only possible father of her children. Echard has refuted the claim of "sexual intercourse" in court documents obtained by We, stating that their interaction only involved oral sex.
After discovering she was expecting twins in May, the woman notified Echard about her pregnancy. Subsequently, he invited her to his place to undergo a pregnancy test and verify her assertions. Allegedly, he sent her a message afterward which stated, "I wanted you to come over to confirm my doubts, which you did. Therefore, I no longer consider you a liar."
Additionally, the woman asserted in her lawsuit that initially Echard had declined to undergo a paternity test, dismissing her claims as "unfounded." However, on September 21, the former NFL player posted a receipt of his paternity test on his Instagram Story, costing $725, with the caption, "This is the timeline. The truth will always set you free."
Attorney Neama Rahmani, who is not involved in the lawsuit, explained that filing a countersuit wouldn't be logical for Echard as he denies the claims. Rahmani stated that anyone has the right to sue for anything, but a strong case requires valid damages. He emphasized the importance of submitting a paternity test and expressed that if there is a reasonable basis to suspect Echard as the father, a judge would likely grant the paternity test request. Rahmani concluded that a countersuit of that nature would not be allowed to proceed.
