Britney Spears' memoir, The Woman in Me, discusses her tumultuous relationship with her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. This has been confirmed.
In her book, Britney, who is now 41, recounts returning home from her 2002 tour to find her mother, Lynne Spears, grappling with the aftermath of her separation from Jamie Spears. A source reveals that Britney describes Jamie Lynn, who was 11 at the time and is now 32, as a "total bitch" because of the way she treated their mother. Britney also expresses that Jamie Lynn had taken control of their household, causing the pop star to feel "betrayed" by her sister's transformation.
Placed under a conservatorship in 2008, Britney has had a complex relationship with her family. In 2021, she publicly accused her sister Jamie Lynn and her father Jamie, aged 71, of taking advantage of her and disregarding her concerns.
During a poignant court hearing in June 2021, Britney expressed her desire to sue her family and openly share her story with the world. She lamented that her loved ones did not offer any assistance, stating that they had failed to support her in any meaningful way.
Jamie Lynn has asserted that she stood by Britney. "Perhaps I didn't express my support for her in the manner that the public desires, with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can guarantee that I have been there for my sister long before hashtags even existed," she stated on Instagram during that time. "And I will continue to support her long into the future. Take note."

“There are two distinct aspects to discuss here. Firstly, there is the relationship I share with my sister, which is separate from the second part where I have the right to defend my reputation and protect my family. I can address these separately by asserting that those who criticize us lack accurate information, and I can provide the truth. On the other hand, regardless of the media attention fading and all other circumstances resolving, I will always remain her sister, bound by love and familiarity. It is imperative that people refrain from interfering in our situation and instigating further conflicts.”
Since then, Britney has subtly alluded to a potential reconciliation by expressing on Instagram in June, "I had a wonderful time visiting my sister on set last week! I've missed all of you so much! True friends remain loyal, but it's also delightful to spend time with family!"
The Woman in Me hits shelves on Tuesday, October 24.
