Britney Spears addressed the altercation between her and the security team of NBA player Victor Wembanyama, speaking about her past traumatic experiences and expressing her unpreparedness for the recent incident. On Thursday, July 6, the 41-year-old singer took to her Instagram Story to recount the events that unfolded the previous night. She narrated how she encountered the athlete in the hotel lobby while heading to dinner and later bumped into him again at a different hotel's restaurant. At that moment, she made the decision to approach him and offer her congratulations on his accomplishments.

Spears proceeded to clarify that on Wednesday, July 5, she gently tapped Wembanyama, 19, on the shoulder to capture his attention in the midst of a noisy environment.

"I acknowledge the player's remark stating 'I grabbed him from behind,' but in reality, I only tapped him on the shoulder," she added. "However, his security guard unexpectedly struck me in the face without turning back, right in front of a crowd. This action almost caused me to fall and resulted in my glasses falling off."

Spears disclosed that she frequently encounters a large number of people around her, mentioning that on that particular night, she had been approached by a group of at least 20 fans. However, she emphasized that her security team did not engage physically with any of them.

The popular singer admitted feeling extremely embarrassed about the incident involving her and the San Antonio Spurs player being made public. Nevertheless, she felt it was crucial to serve as a role model and reiterate the importance for public figures to treat everyone with respect.

In her post, Spears expressed gratitude to her fans for their support and acknowledged the assistance of the Las Vegas PD. Additionally, her husband, Sam Asghari, defended her in regards to the altercation, stating his opposition to violence in any form. He emphasized the importance of self-defense but also highlighted the necessity to protect women, especially his wife. He hoped that the man involved would learn from the incident and show greater respect towards women. He ended his statement by thanking everyone for their support.

Asghari, 29, was standing near his wife and a member of their security when the incident occurred.
