Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador is addressing the lawsuit brought against her by her ex-boyfriend John Janssen.

During an episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live on Monday, April 1st, Beador, who is 59 years old, revealed that she offered to pay Janssen the amount he requested even though she believed it was unjustified. However, Janssen declined the offer because he was not willing to sign a mutual non-disparagement agreement, which is a common practice in settlements to prevent speaking negatively about each other.

After discussing with her lawyers, Beador has decided that the best course of action is to proceed with a trial for the case.

She expressed her frustration, stating, "I feel stuck now. What should I do? Just hand over the money you say I owe and let you say whatever you want about me? No, my lawyer advised against that. So, I have no choice but to go to trial, which is a big deal for me."

Janssen, aged 61, took legal action against Beador on March 20, according to court papers from People. He accused her of breaking an oral agreement and committing fraud by not repaying him $75,000.

According to the court documents, Janssen claimed that Beador requested the money from him in 2022. He sent her $40,000 through a wire transfer in January of that year, which he believed was used for a cosmetic surgery procedure. Additionally, he gave her a further $35,000 through a personal check.

In the court documents, Janssen stated that Beador has not returned the money as promised, including interest.

Beador also mentioned that she had given money to her ex-boyfriend at various times during their relationship.

"He gave me money twice, but I also paid for things many times. So, it's like I was giving him money as well. It's like wanting to keep score," she explained to host Jeff Lewis. "You want me to tally up the thousands of dollars I spent. That's basically what I'm doing now with my time, and it's not enjoyable."

Beador added, "Let me clarify. In the later part of our relationship, John paid for things. However, in the beginning, I was the one paying. So, when we traveled, including hotels and airfare, John only bought me one plane ticket during our entire relationship. I was the one who always took care of those expenses. For example, I took him to New York four times in the first six months of us dating."

Beador mentioned that there was no written agreement or payment plan in place to repay each other.

She reminisced, "At the start of our relationship, he told me, 'You're my future. You're my person. You're my future.'" Beador felt a strong connection with him from the beginning, believing that they would be together forever.

In January 2023, Beador announced that she and Janssen had ended their relationship after more than three and a half years of dating. She revealed that Janssen is now in a relationship with Alexis Bellino, who will also be joining the cast of Real Housewives of Orange County for season 18.

Beador previously shared with E! News in December 2023 that she was hurt by Janssen’s new relationship. She explained that John was aware of her past lawsuit with Jim Bellino, which also involved Alexis. The lawsuit had caused her financial and emotional distress for years, despite ultimately winning. Being a single mom, this had a significant impact on her, something John knew about.

When questioned about why Janssen chose to file a lawsuit now, Beador was unable to provide a reason.

"I really don’t know," she admitted. "Is he spending a lot of money? I have no idea what his job is now. And you know what? I'm okay with not knowing."

Beador added, "I'm focused on moving on with my life. I don't want John Janssen on my mind. I want to leave him in the past. Mentally, I'm in a great place and I want to continue moving forward, not looking back."

We have contacted Janssen's attorney to get their response to Beador's recent comments. In a previous statement, the attorney for Janssen denied the allegation that the $75,000 given to Beador was a gift.

Edson K. McClellan from Rutan & Tucker LLP stated on March 22, "Beador's claim that Mr. Janssen gave her $75,000 as a 'gift' is baseless, as their emails and text messages will prove. Mr. Janssen is disappointed that Ms. Beador's refusal to repay the loans led to the necessity of filing this lawsuit."

The legal dispute between Shannon Beador and her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen, has taken a dramatic turn, with both parties offering conflicting accounts of the alleged financial agreement. Janssen's lawsuit accuses Beador of breaking an oral agreement and committing fraud by not repaying $75,000, while Beador claims she offered to pay the amount but Janssen refused due to her unwillingness to sign a non-disparagement agreement. The situation has escalated into a full-blown trial, leaving Beador feeling frustrated and determined to clear her name.

Beador's decision to proceed with the trial reflects her belief in her innocence and her unwillingness to let Janssen's allegations go unchallenged. She maintains that there was no written agreement or repayment plan in place, and that she had also given money to Janssen throughout their relationship. The lawsuit has brought up old wounds for Beador, who previously faced financial and emotional distress during her lawsuit with Jim Bellino and Alexis Bellino. Despite the challenges, Beador is determined to move on with her life and leave the past behind, expressing her desire to focus on the future rather than dwelling on the allegations brought against her.
