Sidney Sweeney and Glen Powell star in ANYONE BUT YOU. Sony
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell's Anyone But You is set to join the rom-com renaissance we are currently experiencing. Sony Pictures unveiled the first movie still and the official summary on Thursday, October 12th.
"Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) appear to be the ideal couple, but after a memorable first date, their intense attraction quickly fades – until they unexpectedly come together again at a destination wedding in Australia," describes a logline. "In order to navigate the situation, they decide to play the role of a couple, like any mature adults would."
In a sneak peek of the film, Bea, portrayed by Sweeney, confidently stands atop a worn-out Land Rover, while casting a discerning glance. Ben, played by Powell, gazes up at her from the ground. Their attire suggests their attendance at a wedding as guests – Sweeney, aged 26, captivating in a blue silk gown, while the 34-year-old Powell is impeccably dressed in a tan suit.
Starring Alexandra Shipp, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, and Rachel Griffiths, the romantic comedy film "Anyone But You" is set to hit theaters in December. Penned by Will Gluck and Ilana Wolpert, the film is directed by Gluck. Additionally, Sweeney and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, serve as executive producers on the project. Earlier this year, Sweeney and Powell made headlines when they were seen being affectionate while filming in Australia. This sparked rumors about their relationship, despite both Sweeney and Powell being involved with Davino and Gigi Paris, respectively. In April, it was confirmed that Powell and Paris had ended their three-year relationship.
"Glen and I couldn't care less. We have an incredible time together and deeply admire one another. He's an incredibly diligent individual, and I, too, am highly dedicated," revealed the Euphoria actress in an interview with Variety in August, utterly dismissing any romantic rumors. "We converse frequently, often sharing laughter and amusing anecdotes."
Sweeney further emphasized that Anyone But You perfectly embodies the type of romantic comedy that audiences crave, with its captivating storyline and the exceptional chemistry between the two leads.
Powell has not responded to the rumors, but according to a source, his relationship with Paris has been impacted by the speculation. In May, an insider informed Us that it was widely known that they had become very close. Powell is currently keeping a low profile and patiently waiting for the commotion to subside.
The insider disclosed that Sweeney was deeply troubled by the situation, stating it was a "nightmarish scenario" for her. The source emphasized her utmost concern for her reputation and highlighted that this undoubtedly presented a significant challenge to her relationship.
The film, Anyone But You, is set to release in theaters on Friday, December 15, and is currently awaiting a rating from the Motion Picture Association.
