Scheana Shay shared her feelings about not always feeling supported by Ariana Madix.
In a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules on March 5, Scheana, 38, became emotional when a fan photo of her with Tom Sandoval surfaced online following his cheating scandal with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss. This led to Scheana receiving backlash on social media for appearing to be friends with Sandoval, 41, after he cheated on Ariana, 38.
Scheana responded to Lala Kent's question about whether Ariana defended her from online criticism by saying, "No, of course not."
She went on to explain, "When I try to talk to Ariana about my struggles, she often dismisses how I feel or tells me I shouldn't feel that way because of [Sandoval]. It's frustrating because I just want her to listen and acknowledge that I am going through a tough time."
Lala, 33, reassured Scheana that her feelings are completely valid. She mentioned, "Ariana is doing great. She's getting lots of opportunities and she truly deserves it."
In March 2023, it was reported that Sandoval and Ariana broke up because of his cheating. Despite the breakup, Ariana received a lot of support from the public. She even joined season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, landed the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway, and released a cocktail book called Single AF Cocktails.
Scheana shared on Tuesday's episode that she was truly thrilled for Ariana's accomplishments. She expressed her happiness for Ariana's success, including her appearance on Dancing With the Stars, despite wanting that opportunity for herself. Scheana assured Ariana of her support by promising to be there every Monday for her. She believes Ariana deserves all the recognition she is receiving and is glad she did not face any negative consequences. Despite her joy for Ariana, Scheana admitted that she is still dealing with her own emotional struggles.
Scheana expressed her feelings, saying she is hurt and struggling after losing a close friend. She questioned why she can never have a moment where the focus is on her, feeling that her emotions are dismissed because everything is about Ariana. She expressed being tired of this dynamic.
In a confessional, Lala called out Ariana for not supporting Scheana. Lala urged Ariana to step out of her own world and remember the loyalty and support Scheana has shown her. Lala emphasized the importance of Ariana reciprocating the friendship and support that Scheana has consistently offered.
The Vanderpump Rules cast became divided after Scandoval's actions. At first, Sandoval was only close with Tom Schwartz. But during season 11, he began to repair his relationships with James Kennedy, Brock Davies, and Lala.
On the other hand, Scheana was hesitant to reconnect with Sandoval. She mentioned many times that her loyalty to Ariana made it difficult for her to forgive Sandoval for what he did.
Scheana expressed her struggle with letting go of the hate towards Sandoval. Despite knowing it's not good for her, she admitted to still feeling angry at him. She acknowledged that she may not fully understand his actions towards someone else.
After their conversation, Scheana reached out to Ariana with an emotional update. She shared how difficult the morning had been for her, especially during a partner meditation exercise with Sandoval. Feeling uncomfortable and overwhelmed, she found solace in expressing her love and support for Ariana. She reassured her friend that she will always have her back, no matter what.
Scheana later phoned Ariana to discuss how she felt torn.
"We're not the same as before. Things have changed and they won't go back to how they were. It was really tough," she shared with Ariana, mentioning that Sandoval had sincerely apologized to her during a meditation session. "We used to be so close, and losing that connection has been really hard for me. I've been finding it difficult to cope with."
Scheana expressed to Ariana that she couldn't continue "hating" Sandoval on her behalf. She shared, "I am upset because of everything he did, I miss him. I miss having him as a friend."
Ariana offered her support for Scheana's conflicting feelings. She said, "I wish for you to heal. However, being friends with someone who would treat you this way is not what I want for you. I don't believe he valued your friendship."
Who Is the Top Guy in the Vanderpump Rules Group?
Ariana told Katie Maloney that she was not happy to hear that Scheana was planning to move on with Sandoval. She explained in a confessional how this could impact her friendship with Scheana, whom she has been close to since before Vanderpump Rules started in 2013.
Ariana revealed that the situation is being blown out of proportion, emphasizing that it is simply her continuing on her current path. She has expressed her preference of not having mutual friends with Tom Sandoval to avoid any contact with him. She clarified that she is not issuing ultimatums or instructing others on what to do, but rather focusing her attention on relationships where she feels comfortable and secure.
You can catch Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules on Bravo on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, and it is also available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
