Ryan Gosling showcased his affinity for accessories while portraying Ken in Barbie. In the recently released film, Gosling, who is a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer, adorned himself with three vintage watches from the luxury label. Each watch had its own unique style, featuring metallic faces with black detailing, chunkier bands, and black leather bands with dark faces and chrome numbers. Tag Heuer stated in a press release that Gosling handpicked these three gold timepieces to enhance Ken's daring personality.
Gosling explained the rationale behind his three watches during a YouTube video for GQ's "Ken Essentials" segment on Monday, July 24. In the clip, he revealed, "I use this watch for real-world time, while this one represents Barbie Land time. Lastly, I have this watch to track the moon's phases and monitor the morning waves, as I enjoy surfing." The actor further elaborated, stating, "Typically, a watch is seen as a symbol of being busy and having important commitments and exciting places to be. However, as a Ken, I don't possess any of those things. Thus, it becomes even more crucial for me to project an image that suggests otherwise."
He likened the excessive use of accessories to the Coco Chanel guideline of "before you leave the house, you take one thing off" but added that the Ken Rule dictates putting on three things instead. The movie showcased Ken not only wearing watches but also donning multiple sunglasses. Gosling revealed in an interview with GQ that Ken always carries "at least two pairs" with him "at all times."

He suggested that the initial choice for sunglasses should be something Barbie would also find fashionable. Ken emphasized the importance of having a backup pair available in case Barbie needed them for any reason. To protect his emotions, he recommended a pair of dark sunglasses. Ken playfully added that he never wanted to risk upsetting Barbie. As for the second pair, Ken suggested mirrored sunglasses to not only admire Barbie's greatness but also for her to use them to apply lipstick.
Ryan Gosling embraced his inner Ken at the Los Angeles Barbie premiere by donning a stunning Gucci pink suit. Completing the ensemble was a pastel pink button-up shirt and a vibrant "E" necklace, reminiscent of Barbie's iconic font, possibly as a loving gesture towards his wife, Eva Mendes. His honey blonde locks were skillfully styled in beachy waves, while a meticulously groomed goatee added extra style points.
