During a recent interview at a Barbie press event in Toronto, Ryan Gosling revealed that he brings his own unique touch, which he calls "Kenergy," to Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie. However, when it comes to playing with his daughters' dolls, Gosling shared that their Barbies have names of their own, as well as elaborate backgrounds and relationships. He emphasized the importance of knowing all the intricate details, as getting it wrong could lead to a serious playtime faux pas.
La La Land actor Ryan Gosling, who has two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, with his longtime partner Eva Mendes, recently spoke about their love for their girls. Despite the dolls not talking and Ken having a job at a grocery store instead of being a fireman, Gosling and Mendes enjoy playing along with their daughters' doll adventures.
Esmeralda and Amada will soon witness a new portrayal of their dad as Ken in the upcoming Barbie movie, which will be released on July 21. Eva Mendes, their mother, has already given her approval of the character.
During a June 2022 interview on The Talk, Mendes expressed her amusement with a shirtless photo of Ryan Gosling in character, jokingly stating that her inner 14-year-old self was thrilled. She found the photo to be funny and appreciated Gosling's comedic attempt. She even requested to keep the underwear from the photo and is currently wearing it.
Two months later, an exclusive source revealed to We that Mendes constantly supports Gosling's professional endeavors. The insider described it as adorable and charming that he is portraying Ken. In August 2022, they even enjoyed some amusing role-playing after he dyed his hair blond, resulting in genuine laughter from both of them. Additionally, Gosling's 46-year-old sister mentioned on Thursday that his casting appeared to be an obvious and logical choice.
"Of course, it's Ken! I mean, he might have had to search within himself for 'Kenergy,' but I always believed it was there," Mandi humorously remarked to ET Canada.
When he's not getting ready to bring the beloved doll to reality, Ryan and Mendes mainly focus on raising their children away from the public eye.
“The belief is that their connection will improve by being outside of Hollywood, either in Canada or somewhere further from Los Angeles like Santa Barbara or up the coast,” a second source stated earlier to Us in January 2022. "It's interesting that they fell in love while filming Place Beyond the Pines in upstate New York, which is precisely the type of area they would like to relax and embrace while raising their children."
The source mentioned that Ryan and Mendes desire for their daughters to experience an "outdoor environment" free from the pressures of a big city. In this setting, the actor from Crazy, Stupid Love is committed to being an involved father.
