Dolores Catania has shed 20 pounds with the aid of the weight loss medication Mounjaro, and she still has further to go.
The 52-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey celebrity shared in an interview with The U.S. Sun on Sunday, July 16, that she aims to reach a weight in the low 130s. Dolores stated, "I'm setting attainable goals. Currently, I weigh 137 pounds, down from my starting weight of 157."
Catania initially began losing weight when she started taking Ozempic, but she has now transitioned to Mounjaro and has further weight loss goals.
"I used to take Ozempic, then I switched to Mounjaro. Both medications were prescribed to me due to my insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, and thyroid problem," Catania explained. Prior to trying these medications, she was consistently gaining weight every month. "Losing weight takes time and effort; it's not something that happens quickly."
The Bravo star claimed she has also prioritized exercise, healthy meals and less drinking.
Dolores Catania shared that she discontinued using Ozempic due to its cost. However, she believes that maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which includes regular exercise and mindful eating, is a more affordable and effective way to achieve weight loss.
Catania revealed to Andy Cohen earlier this year that she resorted to using semaglutide in order to prevent appearing larger than her fellow cast members at the RHONJ reunion.
Additionally, she mentioned that she has encountered only one significant drawback, stating, "I simply have no appetite."
Meanwhile, Catania's co-star, Jackie Goldschneider, publicly criticized individuals who used Ozempic for purposes other than its intended use. (The medication is typically prescribed to aid in weight management for diabetes patients.)
"I can't help but talk about Ozempic. It truly angers me," Goldschneider, aged 46, shared in a February episode of the "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast. "It horrifies me. I don't have an issue with people wanting to shed pounds – that desire has always been universal – but I'm genuinely fearful of the repercussions once individuals have to discontinue this medication."
She expressed concern about the potential consequences of the massive weight gain and the subsequent confusion faced by individuals. The fear of an increase in eating disorders was prominent in her thoughts. She explained how losing large amounts of weight can be addictive and cited her own experience with anorexia. Goldschneider highlighted the impact of the Ozempic trend on her personal journey towards recovery.
The attorney explained that, personally, they desired to return to a social circle where people were savoring meals, cherishing food, and embracing life. They expressed a longing to be part of a community where their friends, many of whom are connected to the Housewives realm, were also partaking in the dining experience. This made it challenging for them to reintegrate into a scenario where their companions were no longer indulging in food during dinner outings.
