Erika Jayne is humorously addressing her legal woes regarding finances.
"I wasn't allowed to handle any money, otherwise the tax authority would claim it as owed," quipped Erika, 52, on a recent episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13, broadcasted on Wednesday, November 8th.
During the episode, the women attended a Magic Mike Live show in Las Vegas to celebrate Crystal Kung Minkoff's 40th birthday. Sutton Stracke playfully displayed a stack of dollar bills, jokingly remarking, "I've got a lot of ones! Remember these?" This prompted Erika to make a comment.
Viewers of RHOBH have witnessed numerous legal troubles faced by Erika and her estranged husband Tom Girardi unfold on the show. Erika was involved in various lawsuits connected to allegations of her husband's law firm misusing client funds. While she was never charged with any crimes in relation to these cases, Erika faced backlash last season for keeping a pair of earrings worth $750,000, which were allegedly purchased with stolen cash by Tom, who is 84 years old. Some castmates on RHOBH accused Erika of lacking empathy towards those affected by Girardi's illicit activities by keeping the earrings.
After a July 2022 ruling that declared the jewelry was bought using stolen funds, Erika relinquished the earrings. However, she contested the decision and emerged victorious during the previous summer.
Erika boasted about her recent triumph on the "No Filter With Zack Peter" podcast, in response to remarks made by Jon Hamm regarding the controversy.
In a September 2022 interview with Howard Stern, the Mad Men actor remarked, "You just want to shake her and say, 'Sweetheart, those were never yours — return them.'" He continued, "And then I can't quite grasp… are they earrings worth $750,000? Or is it $750,000 per earring?... Give them back."
Erika criticized the actor, exclaiming, "F--k you. ...You have no understanding of the situation. You claim, 'Those items never belonged to you.' Is that so? An appellate judge confirmed otherwise. Or at least, they said there is no evidence to suggest that they didn't belong to you. This brought me satisfaction."
Although the RHOBH cast has stopped discussing Erika's legal troubles, her connection with Tom is still a subject of discussion.
"I have overcome the challenges of the last three years, but I am unsure if others will allow me to move forward," she shared exclusively with We last month. "I still have legal matters to resolve, and these will require time due to the necessary legal process. However, I am determined to move on... Whenever someone brings up Tom Girardi or similar topics, it reminds me of a painful wound that is trying to heal, and it causes me immense distress."
