RHOBH Star Garcelle Beauvais Opens Up About Her Improved Bond with Son Jax

Garcelle Beauvais from RHOBH reveals significant improvement in her relationship with son, Jax The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star expresses that their bond is now in a much better place

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais provided an update on her relationship with her son Jax following their recent on-camera argument.

"We have made significant improvements. It's quite fascinating, because despite the pain we experienced, Jax and I have reached a more positive stage," revealed Garcelle, 56, during an exclusive interview with We at BravoCon on Saturday, November 4. "Even on the night that the episode aired, I acknowledged that I would have to relive the ordeal once again. And he responded by saying, 'Mom, we've grown closer. I love you immensely.' Therefore, we are actively working through our issues. Teenagers will inevitably push boundaries, and I will simply take it in stride."

During the premiere of RHOBH season 13 in October, Garcelle brought her sons Jax and Jaid to the beach. Balancing her filming commitments in both Los Angeles and Atlanta, Garcelle makes an effort to spend quality time with her sons whenever possible. Jax expressed his frustration about constantly switching between his parents' homes while his mom was away filming, describing it as a negative experience. He also expressed his desire for more independence. Garcelle responded by expressing her wish to have a greater role in his parenting, but Jax explained that he understood her perspective, although he felt he needed that support two years ago.

Jax informed his mother, "At this point, I no longer require as much parental guidance. You understand that my intention is not to cause you harm. I believe it is imperative to express what needs to be said, regardless of the potential pain it may cause."

In a confessional, Garcelle shared how much her son’s comments upset her at the time.

Being a working parent comes with a great deal of pressure. I've always tried to be there for my kids," she expressed to the camera. "Can I honestly claim that I was there for them 100 percent of the time? No, I can't. Hearing this from Jax is incredibly painful. I appreciate his honesty, but it makes me question my abilities as a parent."

She continued, "These boys, Jax and Jaid, despite being twins, are incredibly different. In the past, parenting was more uniform. My own mother raised all of us in the same way. However, times have changed, and now it's important to tailor our parenting to each child... something I never experienced while growing up."

In July 2022, Jax garnered attention due to his mother's conflict with RHOBH costar Erika Jayne. The incident occurred at Garcelle's birthday party on an episode of the Bravo show when Erika, 52, shouted at Jax and demanded him to leave. As a result, Jax faced criticism on his personal social media platforms, prompting Garcelle to publicly support her son.

"I typically embody a great deal of strength. My upbringing and life experiences have instilled this resilience within me. However, when it concerns my children, it deeply wounds me. It is unacceptable," expressed the reality star via X (formerly known as Twitter) in August 2022. "My tears have been ceaseless throughout the night. It is merely a television program, individuals. Feel free to voice your frustrations at your TV, even throw something if need be, but please spare our children from any harm."

Following her statement, Garcelle promptly shared an Instagram Story, where she reposted the poignant words from Jax exposing the cruel remarks he had encountered online.

"I want to clarify that I am still a kid and would prefer not to be regarded as a fully grown adult, as I am not one," his statement expressed. "I am currently in my first week of high school and, rather than enjoying it like my fellow classmates, I am unfortunately subjected to social media attacks."

Furthermore, he emphasized that he had no voluntary involvement in the show and was unconnected to any of its conflicts.

Jax expressed his desire to have a typical childhood and clarified that his social media accounts are exclusively for his friends. He was disheartened by the unexpected experience of receiving offensive and racist comments from middle-aged women regarding his family during his initial week in high school. Tune in to Bravo on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
