He managed to grab the sixteenth spot, but only by a slim margin, as his Toyota 86 struggled to maintain speed on the final stretch due to a lack of horsepower. Ogata took responsibility for the car's performance, but Kanata acknowledged him as an exceptional mechanic and thanked him for providing the perfect car.

Kanata, Ogata, and Aiba (Image via Felix Film)Aiba and Ogata threw a consolation party for Kanata later that day. As they were having a good time, they received news that a racer had been disqualified for using unauthorized tires in the post-qualification inspection. This resulted in Kanata securing the fifteenth position and qualifying for the race the next day.
In the meantime, Ren pondered over the reason behind slapping Kanata. She questioned whether it was due to her concern for him or her disappointment. It dawned on her that she was afraid Kanata might grow distant from her if he became famous.
