Reba McEntire Says Marriage to Ex Husband Narvel Blackstock was All Business

Reba McEntire discussed her relationship with ex-husband Narvel Blackstock on The Drew Barrymore Show. They have been separated for more than ten years. McEntire, who is 68 years old, described their marriage as "a situation that was always business."

"I believe it can work well for some people. They are able to be married or in a relationship while also working together. This was the case for us," she explained. "Our marriage lasted 26 years. We initially started working together in the band. He was a member of the band, then became my manager, and eventually my husband. However, our dynamic was always professional - whether we were preparing for the day ahead, having intimate conversations, or any other situation, it was always centered around business."

Reba McEntire also mentioned that this strictly business relationship even carried over into their vacations.

While on vacation to relax and recharge, she remembered how after about three days, they would start thinking of things to do. Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock tied the knot in 1989 but went their separate ways in 2015, with Blackstock receiving a substantial $47.5 million. The former couple shares a son named Shelby. In addition to Shelby, Blackstock has three children from a previous marriage, one of whom is Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson. Despite the divorce, McEntire maintains a close relationship with all three of her stepchildren.

McEntire and Narvel emphasize that despite the large settlement, their divorce was amicable. In a joint statement during the divorce, they stated, "Even though their marriage is ending, they still stand by each other. With 35 years of working together, they plan to keep collaborating."

McEntire also brought up her son Shelby during her appearance on the show. Shelby, who recently turned 34, is a professional race car driver. She expressed her nervousness about watching him race at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

“I was so anxious when Shelby raced at Daytona,” she shared. “Seeing him come around that corner, all I could think about was my little baby behind that helmet. I had to sit down, I almost fainted. But you have to support them in pursuing their dreams. That's what a mama does.”

McEntire is currently in a relationship with actor Rex Linn. She shared with host Drew Barrymore that even though they had been acquainted for a long time, the night they officially became a couple, she felt a strong connection with him.

"We had been in touch and had a mutual friend for years," she explained. "But on that particular night, something just clicked between us."
