Reba McEntire is setting the record straight about her first season as a coach on The Voice.

The 68-year-old country singer currently serves as a judge alongside experienced panelists John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan. Throughout this season, McEntire has faced difficulties in recruiting contestants for her team, with six out of her 13 team members being recruited by default.

Amidst rumors of her discontent with her costars, McEntire's apparent onscreen struggles have added to speculation about her unhappiness in her new role.

McEntire recently provided clarification in an interview, stating that she is actually enjoying herself immensely. During her attendance at the Bring Change to Mind gala on October 9th, McEntire discussed her time on The Voice with Extra. "We're having a great time," she enthusiastically expressed. "It's competitive, but also a fun rivalry. We truly have a wonderful experience on the show. And what astonishes me is the endless amount of incredible talent that continues to emerge. We're currently in the 24th season and the talent is unreal. I urge everyone to tune in."

When questioned about her most frequent sparring partner, McEntire jokingly mentioned her ongoing banter with former One Direction member Horan, 30.

Additionally, McEntire admitted to initially finding Stefani, 54, quite intimidating. "At first, I thought she was being mean to me," McEntire reminisced. However, Stefani's confession of simply desiring McEntire's approval transformed their relationship into a close bond. "All she had to say was 'I just want you to like me,'" McEntire shared, "and we became best friends."

McEntire dismissed rumors of her departure before the season concludes, stating, "We're not done yet!"

Confirming her role as a judge for season 25, set to air in spring 2024, McEntire will be joined by fellow coaches John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and the show's inaugural coaching duo, country pop artists Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, known as Dan + Shay.

After Blake Shelton left the competition show, McEntire made the announcement in May that she would be joining. Shelton, who had been a coach on The Voice since it first aired in April 2011, was succeeded by McEntire. During her appearance as a mega mentor on season 23, she expressed her excitement about being a part of the show. She thanked host Carson Daly and the rest of the team for their warm welcome and hospitality, and she eagerly anticipated the opportunity to form her own team.
