Reba McEntire, 68, jokingly expressed her displeasure with Taylor Swift for dating her crush, Travis Kelce, during an appearance on Today.
The Voice coach expressed her interest upon hearing the rumors of a romantic affiliation between the 33-year-old singer and the 34-year-old football star.
McEntire shared her emotional distress, labeling Kelce as the individual who had betrayed her and identifying him as her "ex-boyfriend."
Despite not being seriously upset, the country legend has long admired Taylor Swift. In a 2015 interview with Entertainment Tonight, McEntire expressed her admiration for Swift, proclaiming herself as Swift's biggest fan. McEntire praised Swift as a great role model, incredibly intelligent, and exquisitely beautiful. She commended Swift for her poised demeanor, knack for saying the right things at the right time, and overall amazingness.
Despite criticism from certain country artists about Swift's foray into pop music, McEntire applauds her achievements.
"I find it remarkable," McEntire remarked. "Why should country music confine her exclusively to our genre? She deserves recognition across all genres of music."
McEntire has been in a steady relationship with actor Rex Linn since 2020, but she noted that he is not jealous of her crush on the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
“Isn’t that sad?” she joked.
McEntire, an ardent football enthusiast, made it abundantly clear to Linn, who is 66 years old, that she had a fondness for Kelce.
"Due to my adoration for the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, I couldn't help but exclaim, 'Oh, he's incredibly attractive!'" she reminisced.
Linn, who had a role in CSI: Miami for ten years, playfully taunted McEntire when Swift and Kelce were rumored to be a couple.
"Your boyfriend's got himself a new lady," Linn teasingly remarked, as recalled by McEntire. In a witty comeback, she responded, "Thanks for rubbing it in."
McEntire and Linn exude immense confidence in their relationship since their initial encounter in 1991, followed by a remarkable reunion after 29 years during their collaboration on Young Sheldon. This romantic bond unfolded when Linn reached out via text, inviting her with the words, "Are you coming to Los Angeles? Let's share a meal together."
McEntire expressed that the text he received sparked intense emotions within her.
"I can't quite pinpoint what it was," McEntire reminisced. "The desire to be with Rex was so overpowering, I could barely tolerate it." Following their meal, she declared, "We became inseparable."
McEntire recently disclosed that her legendary music career nearly came to an end following the death of her mother, Jacqueline, on March 14, 2020, at the age of 93.
In a recent interview on Today, McEntire expressed that Linn played a crucial role in helping her deal with the loss of her mother.
