A Pokemon fan has come up with an evolution for Durant, the Bug/Steel-type monster. Fans of Pokemon have been creating fan art since the first generation of games on the Game Boy. Each new generation of games brings fresh ideas from the community.
Most Pokemon monsters can evolve into different forms through various methods since the release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. With the announcement of the upcoming game Pokemon Legends Z-A, players are speculating about potential new additions to the Pokedex. One artist has shared their interpretation of a monster that has not yet received its own evolution.
Pokemon Fan Designs An Evolution For Durant
Posting to the r/Pokemon subreddit, a user named JJonnie has shared their idea for a potential evolution for Durant, the Bug/Steel-type Pokemon from Pokemon Black and White. Currently, Durant is one of the Pokemon that does not have an evolution, but JJonnie's concept introduces a new evolution called Duregal. This evolved form of Durant is depicted as a queen with a dress-like body and a steel hat. According to JJonnie's artwork, Duregal would maintain the Bug/Steel typing and would receive protection from any Durant allies in battle.

Fans are impressed with the creation of Duregal, drawing comparisons to Vespiquen. Both have bee-like characteristics, like female-only evolution and dress-like design. However, fans believe Duregal's type-set would be more advantageous in battle compared to Vespiquen's Bug/Flying combination. Although Duregal may struggle against Fire-types, the overall design and thought put into its creation are highly praised.
Goh's Durant Pokemon Anime Cropped - While it is unlikely that Game Freak will use JJonnie’s art as inspiration for a future Durant evolution, it is still possible that players will encounter new forms of older monsters
Although it's not very likely that Game Freak will base a new Durant evolution on JJonnie's art, there is a chance that players may come across different versions of existing Pokemon. For example, in Pokemon Legends Arceus, Stantler was able to evolve into Wyrdeer, a new form introduced 23 years after its original appearance in Pokemon Gold and Silver.
Pokemon Legends Z-A is scheduled to reintroduce Mega Evolutions upon its release in 2025. With this upcoming game, fans anticipate that Game Freak might introduce not just new Mega Evolutions but also new Pokemon to the Pokedex. While players will have to wait for the official announcement, based on previous releases, it is probable that a few new creatures will be included in the game.
Editor's P/S:
The Pokemon community's creativity never ceases to amaze me. JJonnie's concept for a Durant evolution, Duregal, is a testament to the passion and imagination of fans. The design is well-executed, with its bee-like features and regal appearance. While it's unlikely that Game Freak will adopt this specific design, it's inspiring to see how fans envision the expansion of the Pokemon universe.
The possibility of new Pokemon and Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends Z-A is equally exciting. The series has a long history of introducing new creatures and forms, and the upcoming game promises to continue this tradition. The anticipation among fans is palpable, and it will be fascinating to see what Game Freak has in store for us.
