A skilled player of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has recently shared their impressive achievement of revamping an already remarkable walking mech design on an online platform. This latest addition to the list of awe-inspiring machinery created by Tears of the Kingdom players has been garnering attention since the game's release on May 12th.
Although Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom shares similarities with Breath of the Wild, it introduces a significant improvement in the form of its rune replacements. This enhancement allows for a more open-ended gameplay experience, especially with the introduction of Ultrahand - a new ability that empowers players to merge various overworld objects into elaborate structures, vehicles, and other intricate machines. It's a testament to the game's sandbox-like features.
Recently, a Reddit user by the name of wiisportspro- showcased an impressive use of Ultrahand by sharing a viral gameplay clip of a fully functional bipedal mech. While other players have attempted to build mechs in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, their creations have been limited to machinery that rolls around on wheels. However, wiisportspro- has been working on various versions of bipedal mechs and has even created a Zelda version of Metal Gear REX, as well as a helicopter. Although the author admits that there is still room for improvement, even the latest version of their robot is limited by slopes.
The bipedal machine boasts multiple wheels instead of a ribcage, resulting in a stunning animation when activated as the mech folds inward. Large wooden platforms at the feet ensure stability on even ground. Though the machine lacks traditional weaponry, its wide stomping range presents a formidable threat to enemies if properly positioned. What sets this walking mech apart from other impressive Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom creations is its conservative use of Zonai devices, making it energy-efficient and capable of traveling great distances with minimal Energy Cell consumption. This design can be reverse-engineered and utilized early on in the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
