Oscar Isaac, known for his role as Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O'Hara in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has expressed his thoughts on Pedro Pascal joining the Spider-Verse cast and story. According to Isaac, the film franchise has done an exceptional job in casting the perfect actors for their respective characters. Therefore, he believes that Pascal would be an excellent fit for an aged and irritable version of Spider-Man.
Isaac suggested Pedro Pascal as a potential addition to the Spider-Verse franchise during an interview with GQ. He praised the franchise's ability to cast the right actors for each role but suggested that Pascal would make a great "cranky, old Spider-Person." However, Isaac did not provide any specific details about what type of Spider-Man character Pascal could play.
Isaac and Pascal, who are known to be close friends in Hollywood, have worked together in the film Triple Frontier and have both played major characters in the Star Wars universe. Isaac portrayed Poe Dameron in the latest trilogy from 2015 to 2019, while Pascal became the lead in the Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian. Despite this, the two have not yet shared the screen together in any Star Wars property. Both actors have also had roles in superhero media; Isaac in multiple Marvel franchises such as X-Men: Apocalypse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Pascal as Max Lord in Wonder Woman 1984. Isaac mentioned the possibility of Pascal joining the Spider-Man franchise as an off-hand comment, but with his growing popularity due to his recent projects such as The Last of Us and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Pascal could certainly add even more value to the already popular franchise.
Initially, Miles Morales was met with skepticism by comic book readers. However, with the right creative team behind him, his popularity has skyrocketed over the past few years. This has not only elevated Morales as a character, but also boosted Spider-Man's already significant fan base. While Pascal's role in the expanding Spider-Verse may not align with Isaac's proposal, it has the potential to be another significant moment for the Spider-Man franchise.
