In her memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears gave a number of shout-outs to fellow celebrities, and Paris Hilton was thrilled with the mention. Hilton, 42, recently posted three throwback photos from 2006 with Spears, 41, on her Instagram, with the caption "17 years ago, Britney and I created the selfie!" This was discussed on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday, November 29.
Clarkson, 41, pointed out that following the release of Paris: The Memoir by Hilton in March, Spears' own memoir was released in October. Clarkson then shared a passage from Spears' book about Hilton, stating, "One of the people who was kindest to me when I really needed kindness was Paris Hilton," which resonated with both Clarkson and Hilton.
"I was moved to tears when I read that - it really resonated with me," Hilton expressed, praising Spears. "She's incredibly resilient, and I admire her greatly. I'm so proud of her for sharing her truth and writing this book. That quote really spoke to me when I read it."
Clarkson, who became the winner of American Idol in 2002 at the age of 20, shared that she could empathize with Hilton and Spears in dealing with the challenges of fame at a young age.
She also commended her guest for her dedication to advocating for troubled teens, especially after Hilton opened up about her experiences of emotional and physical abuse at a boarding school at the age of 17.
"I believe that there is a purpose behind everything that happens to us, both the good and the bad," Clarkson stated. "I admire your advocacy for the troubled teen industry, especially because of your own struggles."
Hilton expressed her pride in the impact she has made by speaking out. She has been involved in changing laws in 10 states, lobbying for federal legislation in Washington, D.C., and was successful in getting support from both sides of the political spectrum.
Hilton and Spears both shared their challenging teenage experiences in their respective books. Spears is now considering her next project, focusing on sharing more about her journey as a survivor and how she maintains a positive outlook during difficult times, according to an exclusive source.
Her separation from estranged husband Sam Asghari is expected to be a significant focus in book No. 2, as The Woman In Me was written before their August split. (The couple got married in June 2022.)

“Britney’s not looking to go after Sam,” a second source told Us. “She just wants [to talk about] why the relationship broke down.”
In her October release, Spears called Asghari a "Godsend." She expressed her admiration for his stability and sobriety, and mentioned that she knew she wanted him in her life right away due to their intense chemistry.
