Olivia Rodrigo was thrilled to have the opportunity to perform with Sheryl Crow on stage.

During a show on Saturday, March 9, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, the 21-year-old singer had a surprise for her fans. In a fan-recorded video, Rodrigo expressed her excitement about having a special guest that evening. She praised Crow as one of the most talented, kind-hearted individuals she has ever met. Rodrigo mentioned that she has been fortunate enough to sing with Crow on multiple occasions and is grateful to also call her a friend.

Crow, who is 62 years old, brought out an electric guitar and embraced Rodrigo warmly. Rodrigo was then given a Guts-purple acoustic guitar, and they both played Crow's 1996 hit, "If It Makes You Happy."

This wasn't the first time the two musicians had performed this song together. Rolling Stone mentioned that Rodrigo and Crow had played the song at Nashville's Bluebird Café in September 2023 and again in November when Crow was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Additionally, Crow had presented Rodrigo with the Woman of the Year award at the 2022 Billboard Women in Music event.

Crow had a chat with Entertainment Tonight last year about her friendship with Rodrigo. She mentioned how awesome it is to bond with the young superstar, especially after the release of Guts. In November 2023, she shared, "I had the chance to support her a bit because she has a new record out... I understand how challenging it is to release a second record, known as the sophomore album. You have to live up to the success of your first album, and she totally nailed it."

Crow also advised Rodrigo to write down one sentence every day about what happened, so she can look back and remember all the things. She also emphasized the importance of staying focused on the work and avoiding distractions.

Rodrigo is currently on her Guts World Tour, during which she has introduced two significant projects. The first project is Fund 4 Good, a global initiative dedicated to creating a fair and equal future for women, girls, and individuals who advocate for reproductive health freedom. A portion of her ticket sales will be donated to local abortion access funds. The second project is a special Guts-inspired Crumbl cookie. This delicious treat features two purple vanilla-flavored cookies sandwiching a layer of vanilla buttercream and triple-berry jam.

During the opening of her world tour, the former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star celebrated her 21st birthday in a typical American high school fashion. She bought a six-pack of beer and cigarettes, but assured her fans at the kickoff show in Palm Desert, California that she did not consume them. She mentioned, "I bought it because I f—king could."
