Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore album, Guts, was almost way more explicit than what fans have heard.
“I enjoy incorporating a well-placed and essential expletive into my language, but occasionally, I make an effort to moderate it,” revealed 20-year-old Rodrigo during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, October 24. "There were a few tracks on the album where profanity was abundant, but I had to dial it back."
Last month, Rodrigo's second album, Guts, skyrocketed to the top position on the Billboard 200 chart. Nevertheless, she decided to make alterations to certain songs upon realizing, "My mother is a listener of this music."
Rodrigo sings about missing the affection and laughter in the track "Get Him Back!" She mentioned to Jimmy Kimmel that the original lyrics included references to the way he grabbed her behind. In a similar vein, the lyrics for "All-American Bitch" initially mentioned perfect lips and hips but were originally about perfect lips and breasts.

Kimmel, 55, revealed that the swear words in Rodrigo’s songs have actually impacted his home life.
The talk show host shared that his 6-year-old son, Billy, has caught on to the catchy lyrics of the song "Vampire" and started singing them. He was of course referring to the explicit line in Rodrigo's song. Rodrigo immediately apologized and expressed her concern, hoping that the host's kids are in a safe place where they won't be exposed to her music.
Rodrigo performed "Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl" during her guest spot on the late-night show. Kimmel mentioned that she specifically chose this song for his 9-year-old daughter, Jane, who was eagerly waiting backstage.
Following his opening monologue, Kimmel proceeded to introduce his youngest children, Billy and Jane, who happen to be avid fans of Rodrigo. The show then showcased the heartwarming first encounter between the singer and Kimmel's children. (Kimmel also has two other children, Katie who is 32 years old, and Kevin who is 30 years old, from his previous marriage to Gina Kimmel.)
During a morning school run, Kimmel and McNearney, aged 45, unexpectedly came across an individual on the roadside whom they playfully referred to as a "hitchhiker."
Jane excitedly pointed out to her brother, "Oh, my God, Billy, look, that's Olivia Rodrigo!" As they were about to get into their car, Rodrigo approached them and asked, "Hey, would you mind if I catch a ride with you? Can I join you?"
Jane gasped in astonishment, her hands flying to cover her gaping mouth as Rodrigo nonchalantly settled into the backseat of Kimmel and McNearney's vehicle.
Revealing her musical preference, Jane disclosed to Rodrigo that "Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl" holds a special place in her heart, while Billy's affection leaned towards the catchy tune of "Get Him Back!"
"He wants to seek revenge on your behalf. And what do you plan to do once you have him back?" McNearney informed Rodrigo about his 6-year-old. Billy responded, "I want to hit him in the groin."
Amidst laughter, Rodrigo inquired, "Am I negatively influencing your children? I apologize sincerely."
During the remainder of the car journey, Rodrigo enthusiastically sang along to the songs with Billy and Jane, until they reached their school. Just before exiting the car, the children warmly embraced the singer.
"Have a fantastic day!" McNearney bid her kids farewell as they headed towards the school. "It's smooth sailing from here."
