Olivia Rodrigo has a potential duet partner in her sights, and fans may not be surprised to hear that it's Noah Kahan.
"I think Noah Kahan is amazing and very inspiring," the 20-year-old singer told Variety at the Governors Awards on Tuesday, January 9. "I would love to collaborate with him one of these days."
Although Rodrigo and Kahan, both 27 years old, have not yet sung a duet together, they have previously done covers of each other's songs. In October 2023, Rodrigo performed a cover of Kahan's 2022 hit "Stick Season" for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, which took place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Following Rodrigo's performance, Kahan shared his reaction to the cover on his TikTok account, writing "Olivia covering 'Stick Season'? Her song now," alongside the clip.
He continued in the caption, "I'd give her all of my music. Thank you so much, Olivia."
In November 2023, Kahan reciprocated the gesture by performing a cover of Rodrigo's 2023 track "Lacy" with the band Tiny Habits for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
Rodrigo has made a big impact in the music industry, but she first gained fame as an actress. When asked about her plans to return to acting, she responded by saying, "It's the million dollar question." "I would love to," Rodrigo told Variety. "I think that would be really fun. I love movies, I love telling stories."
Rodrigo expressed her interest in exploring the "coming-of-age" genre before reaching the actual age for it. She jokingly added, "Maybe I am of age already, I don’t know," before stating her love for storytelling whether it's through music or film, which is something that truly excites her.
Rodrigo's acting credits feature appearances in the 2015 American Girl movie Grace Stirs Up Success, a 2017 episode of New Girl, as well as the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark and the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Following the success of her 2021 hit "Drivers License," Rodrigo made a return to HSMTMTS in 2022 but with a transition from a series regular to a recurring cast member. She ultimately departed from her role as Nini later in season 3.
