The star of Welcome to Plathville, Olivia Plath, is adjusting to her new life after splitting from her estranged husband Ethan Plath. She is standing up against any criticism and shared a message of hope on Instagram, encouraging others to keep going because things will improve. She also posted a series of photos from a recent mountain photoshoot.
A social media user urged Olivia to change her last name in the comments, but Olivia quickly fired back, defending her right to keep her name.

The online critic hit back, recommending that Olivia should “establish her own identity” rather than relying on Ethan and his family’s influence. (Olivia’s connection with Ethan, 25, has been a central theme on his family’s Welcome to Plathville for all five seasons.)
Olivia Marie Plath clarified that her name is not the same as her husband's and expressed surprise at the confusion. She is known for using her full name as a wedding photographer and blogger. Despite conflicts with her mother-in-law over wedding preparations, Olivia married Ethan in October 2018. Throughout their marriage, they faced various challenges and ultimately announced their separation in October.
Olivia announced on Instagram last month that Ethan and she have decided to part ways. She reminisced about their innocent dreams as 18-year-olds, but explained that the person you choose to be with reflects the life you want to create, something she was unsure of at that age. Despite the good moments, they are now parting ways as adults, older, wiser, and braver, but ultimately believing that they will be okay.

Ethan also commented on the couple's separation in an Instagram post, stating that "it just didn't work out" despite both of them "giving it their all."
"We seemed to always be heading in opposite directions with different goals in life," Ethan, the oldest of Kim and Barry Plath's nine children, explained. "I hope Olivia has a bright future ahead. I have deep care for her and always will."
