Halfway through the first season of Crunchyroll's hit Chinese anime series, Link Click, the show evolved from a unique twist on the time travel genre into a gripping psychological thriller that left viewers on the edge of their seats in the season finale. Exciting news for fans as the series has been officially confirmed for a second season on Crunchyroll.
The official Link Click Twitter account announced on July 11th that the second season will premiere on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 PM China Standard Time (CST) on BiliBili, the original Chinese streaming platform for the show. Crunchyroll, the international distributor of Link Click, will announce the premiere date and time at a later date. To build excitement for the new season, BiliBili hosted an exclusive screening of the premiere at Anime Expo 2023, marking the first time an episode debuted outside of China.
Link Click Returns to Crunchyroll on July 13th
The story of Li Haoling's Link Click revolves around Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang, and Qiao Ling, who operate a photo-developing business. However, unbeknownst to everyone else, this business serves as a cover for their actual work of assisting clients in resolving issues beyond their control. These issues can range from locating a missing individual to conveying heartfelt messages to departed loved ones. To accomplish this, Cheng possesses the unique ability to transfer his consciousness into the person behind a particular photograph, enabling him to become that individual. On the other hand, Lu possesses the power to view a photograph and gain insight into the lives of the photographer and the individuals captured within the image, but only within a 12-hour timeframe following the photo's capture.
Cheng and Lu work together seamlessly, with Cheng taking control of the photographer's physical actions while Lu acts as his guiding voice. In a specific example from Episode #2, the duo is hired by an elderly man who wishes to go back in time to undo hurtful comments he made to his mother in high school, which he deeply regrets. With Lu fully understanding the context and reasons behind Cheng's comments, he urges Cheng to refrain from making those comments or offer an apology. Initially, Cheng, Lu, and Qiao - the owner of the photo-developing business and the one who finds clients - enjoy success in their venture.
However, troubles arise when Cheng, being deeply connected to the emotions of the individuals he possesses, begins making subtle alterations to their lives. Though he perceives these changes as minor enhancements to their quality of life, Lu warns him about the significant consequences they can have on the present. Despite these warnings, Cheng continues his course, unknowingly paving the way for future challenges for himself, Lu, and Qiao. Season 2 is expected to pick up where Link Click's first season left off, as Cheng is pursued by a mysterious figure while Lu remains missing. If the second season is anything like its debut, Crunchyroll is set to add another successful anime to its catalog.
