Bungie has revealed that a reimagined raid is set to launch in Destiny 2 on September 1, although the exact raid remains undisclosed.Since the reappearance of raids in Destiny 2 is not directly linked to the Seasonal narrative, it becomes challenging to anticipate which raid will resurface.
Speculation surrounds the possibility of Crota's End being the raid making a comeback, although no official announcement has been made. Additionally, Savathun is expected to make a return to the game soon. In the most recent This Week In Destiny post, Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2's next reprised raid will launch on September 1, but did not specify which raid it will be.
Bungie introduced the concept of bringing back raids in Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer with the release of Vault of Glass, the first ever raid in Destiny. Following that, King's Fall was launched last year in Season of the Plunder and is still considered one of the best raids. Bungie is now preparing to bring back another raid from the vault and has announced that it will be playable on September 1. The name of the raid is still unknown. Additionally, Bungie mentioned in their latest TWID post that the rules for the Day 1 raid race in Destiny 2 will be the same as King's Fall. The contest mode will last for 48 hours and players will gain access to the Challenge mode upon completion.
The intriguing aspect of these returning raids is their lack of connection to the Seasonal story, adding an element of unpredictability to which raid might resurface. Currently, Destiny 2 boasts seven raids, with King's Fall and Vault of Glass hailing from Destiny 1. If Bungie intends to revive all Destiny 1 raids, the potential contenders are Crota's End or Wrath of the Machine, as they are the sole survivors from the previous game. A leak has hinted at the return of Crota's End in Destiny 2 this year, but it should be approached with skepticism until an official confirmation is made. The other vaulted raids from Destiny 2 include Leviathan, Crown of Sorrow, and Scourge of the Past, but the community believes that none of these will be making a comeback.
Crota’s End will not be the only Hive God making a comeback in Destiny 2. Savathun, the Witch Queen, is also set to return in the near future. During the Season of the Deep, it was revealed that the Guardians will require Savathun's assistance to stop the Witness. However, it's important to note that Bungie has clarified that this does not mean Savathun will become an ally to the Guardians, as her history of genocide cannot be ignored.
Destiny 2 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
