Mortal Kombat 1 Unveils Jaw-Dropping Lineup: Meet These Six Epic Characters!

Mortal Kombat 1's latest Kombat Kast trailer introduces a thrilling line-up of returning characters, primarily from the Lin Kuei clan Get ready for an epic battle as these newly confirmed fighters join the fray!

Several new characters from Mortal Kombat 1 were recently revealed in today's Kombat Kast livestream. As the release of Mortal Kombat 1 approaches this fall, NetherRealm has been gradually introducing the revamped warriors of their latest fighting game. These characters can either be fully playable fighters or supporting Kameo fighters from MK1 that players can call upon for assistance during battles. Up until now, most of the confirmed characters for Mortal Kombat 1 have been familiar faces like Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Of all the characters in Mortal Kombat 1's roster, Scorpion and Sub-Zero stand out the most. In Mortal Kombat 11, Liu Kang's alteration of the main timeline resulted in these once bitter rivals becoming brothers and allies within the ancient Lin Kuei clan. The trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 released today focuses on these two characters, who are recruited by Liu Kang to defend Earthrealm against an imminent threat. However, according to the updated character bios for MK1, Sub-Zero has his own vision for the Lin Kuei's role in the world. He believes that they should not merely serve Earthrealm, but instead, lead it.

Newly Confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 Characters

Introducing a new ally for Scorpion and Sub-Zero, one that will surely be recognized by long-time Mortal Kombat fans. In the latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the familiar gray ninja known as Smoke joins forces with Scorpion and Sub-Zero to aid them in their mission. Remaining true to his role in the original Mortal Kombat timeline, Smoke showcases his formidable combos and unique smoke-based abilities as he faces off against Kenshi, a formidable opponent. However, the trio's journey takes an unexpected turn as they encounter a new adversary: Rain, who was teased by none other than MK co-creator Ed Boon earlier this week. Dressed in striking violet attire, Rain showcases his mastery over water-based portals and unleashes powerful staff strikes in a fierce battle against Scorpion.

The latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 introduced several new Kameo fighters, predominantly from the Lin Kuei faction. Among them are the cyborg assassins Cyrax and Sektor, who team up with Smoke and Sub-Zero to unleash brutal high-tech combinations. Frost, Sub-Zero's fallen apprentice, also makes her return after her last appearance in Mortal Kombat 11, using her icy powers to aid Scorpion in his battle against Johnny Cage. Additionally, a past version of Kung Lao, who was already confirmed, can be seen supporting Rain, suggesting a connection between the two character rosters in Mortal Kombat 1.

These characters have a strong fan base within the Mortal Kombat community, so their inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1 is sure to be well-received. Although there are still other fighters that players would like to see return, such as the often-rumored Reptile and Shao Khan's loyal general, Reiko, the current roster of Mortal Kombat 1 is being enhanced by the addition of members from the renowned Lin Kuei and their adversaries. As the launch date for Mortal Kombat 1 in September approaches, only time will reveal which other fighters will emerge as contenders.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
