Star Wars: Ahsoka will introduce characters from Star Wars: Rebels in their live-action debut. However, a recent LEGO release suggests that one of these characters will have a different appearance from their previous portrayal on the show.
Following the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels in 2018, the fate of the characters has remained uncertain. Jedi Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray) underwent an impressive transformation over four seasons, only to disappear into hyperspace aboard a pod of Purrgil. The ending hinted that Sabine (Tiya Sircar), a Mandalorian with a fondness for explosives, would embark on a search for her missing comrade. In Star Wars: Ahsoka, it appears that she will finally have the opportunity to do so. Accompanied by Ghost's captain, Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and the iconic Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), the group is set on a mission to defeat Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).
Each of these characters truly embodies their animated counterparts, and this holds true for Thrawn as well, portrayed with his distinctive blue complexion and piercing red eyes. However, the portrayal of Jacen Syndulla falls short of expectations, as he only makes a brief appearance in the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels. Jacen, the son of Hera and a survivor of the infamous Order 66, was last seen sporting a surprisingly vibrant green hair. Yet, in the Ahsoka LEGO set currently available for pre-order on Amazon, Jacen's depiction showcases a more unassuming and traditional look, featuring classic brown hair.
Jacen's presence in Star Wars Rebels has been limited, as he was only seen briefly as a child alongside Hera in the Ghost's cockpit. However, despite his small role, he offered a symbol of hope for the Ghost crew, who had endured countless hardships. While changing Jacen's hairstyle may appear insignificant, it carries significant implications.
Although years have passed since the finale of Star Wars Rebels, it would be unwise to disregard Jacen's appearance. While his character has yet to be fully developed, his inclusion in the series serves as a source of comfort for emotional wounds. Kanan's death, which occurred towards the end of the show, was both necessary and heart-wrenching. He was not only Ezra Bridger's mentor but also the partner of Hera Syndulla and the pillar that united the crew. By witnessing Kanan's legacy continue through Hera's son, the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels became deeply inspiring.
He is the sole existing descendant of a Twi'lek and human, which explains his unique appearance. While he mostly takes after his father in terms of biology, his mother's influence is evident in his green coloring. Removing this element would diminish Hera's crucial role as his main caretaker. While the accuracy of the Ahsoka LEGO set is questionable, disregarding Hera's impact on Jacen would be unfair. Mark your calendars for August 23, 2023, when Star Wars: Ahsoka debuts on Disney Plus.
