Caution! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2. The true identity of the Inquisitor Marrok remains a puzzle, but there are hints suggesting that he may be Ezra Bridger. In the Star Wars Rebels series, Ezra was last seen during the liberation of Lothal before vanishing alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn with the help of the purrgil, creatures capable of hyperspace travel. Initially presumed dead, whispers of Thrawn's return to Ahsoka imply that Ezra may have survived as well. However, news of Ezra's existence has not spread widely like Thrawn's, raising questions about the details of his supposed survival.
At the same time, in Ahsoka episode 2, the enigmatic Inquisitor Marrok makes his debut as he clashes with Ahsoka on the planet of Corellia. Little was known about this character even prior to the series' premiere, and episode 2 does little to shed light on his true identity. Interestingly, Marrok deliberately conceals his voice during the confrontation on Corellia, further adding to his aura of mystery. The secrecy surrounding Marrok, coupled with his ability to match Ahsoka's skills, suggests the intriguing possibility that he could indeed be the dark side version of Ezra.

7 Marrok Is The Name Of A Knight Ensorceled By A Witch
In the realm of Arthurian legend, there exists a courageous knight known as Marrok. However, his valor is overshadowed by the control he falls under, for the sorceress Irma manipulates his actions. This enigmatic witch, who bears the title "of the council of Morgan Le Fay," intriguingly aligns with the enigmatic Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth. Delving deeper into their unsettling connection, Morgan Elsbeth orchestrates a formidable coalition of adversaries whose mission is to reclaim Thrawn. Revealing her true identity as one of the formidable Nightsister witches hailing from Dathomir, this revelation forms a seamless link that presents the tantalizing possibility of her governing Ezra, who assumes the guise of Marrok. This symbiotic collaboration not only aids their endeavor but also sets the stage for confrontations with former comrades, such as the valiant Ahsoka.
6 Marrok's Voice Still Hasn't Been Heard - Which Is Surely Deliberate
5 Ahsoka Episodes 1 & 2 Set Up Ezra's Significance As A Character
Marrok's debut in Ahsoka episode 2 left him completely voiceless, leaving no hints about his true identity. This deliberate choice implies that his voice holds significant recognition, and the absence of dialogue ensures a calm first appearance. Although there are various characters in the Star Wars canon who could potentially be Marrok, such as Sam Witwer's Starkiller, none of them would raise the stakes of the show as much as Ezra.
In Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2, there is a significant focus on establishing Ezra's importance to both the characters and the overall story. Sabine Wren occupies Ezra's former living space, which she has now made her own, throughout most of episode 1. She even goes to the extent of repeatedly watching an old hologram of him. Furthermore, Ezra serves as a primary motivation for Sabine to join Ahsoka on their journey, in addition to her desire to prove herself in her Jedi training. This setup dominates the majority of Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2, heightening the anticipation for the eventual revelation of Ezra as Marrok.
4 Ezra Often Flirted With The Dark Side
3 Marrok Is The First Inquisitor To Give Ahsoka Real Trouble
While Ezra showcased strength in the light side of the Force during his previous appearance in Star Wars Rebels, he was not immune to the allure of the dark side. Throughout the animated series, there were instances where he toyed with dark forces, such as delving into the secrets of a Sith Holocron. Ezra also had multiple encounters with Darth Maul and was willing to collaborate with him if it served their mutual interests. It is plausible that Ezra succumbed once again to the temptations or persuasion of the dark side while in the company of Thrawn, ultimately leading him to adopt the identity of Marrok.
Ahsoka is formidable in combat and easily defeats Inquisitors, as shown in Tales of the Jedi and Rebels. However, during their skirmish on Corellia in Ahsoka episode 2, Marrok manages to challenge her. Although the fight was not overly difficult for Ahsoka, it would have been quickly resolved if it had been any other random Inquisitor. Ezra, being familiar with Ahsoka's fighting style, would pose an equal match for her, which could explain why Marrok is the one who gives her the most trouble.
2 Thrawn Was "Banished" - Hinting There's An Untold Story After Rebels' Ending
1 Ezra and Marrok Both Have A Connection To Wolves
Thrawn's banishment in Ahsoka implies that there is more to his story between the end of Star Wars Rebels and his current whereabouts. It is possible that Ezra and the purrgil relocated Thrawn elsewhere, while Palpatine, after Thrawn's failure at Lothal, banished him as far away as possible. If this is indeed the case for Thrawn, it suggests that Ezra also has his own untold tale. If Ezra crossed paths with Palpatine, the Emperor might have been especially persuasive in tempting Ezra to the dark side and assuming the persona of Marrok.
Taking inspiration from Arthurian legend, Marrok was once referred to as a "werewolf knight" in his history. In the animated series Star Wars Rebels, Ezra formed a strong bond with the mystical Loth-Wolves and even enlisted their help in his mission to free Lothal and capture Thrawn. Notably, wolves frequently appear in the works of Ahsoka's creator, Dave Filoni, to the extent that he named his character in The Mandalorian Trapper Wolf. Therefore, it is logical to establish a connection between Ezra and Marrok based on their affinity for wolves.
Potential characters who could be under Marrok's mask are numerous, but dark side Ezra is a plausible choice. This would escalate the stakes of the show and the reveal would have a profound impact on both viewers and the characters. The decision to keep Marrok's identity a secret is deliberate, and making him a character with whom viewers are familiar and who has a deep connection to the heroes seems like the best option. Ahsoka has already been delivering surprising plot twists, so this particular twist would align perfectly with the established story. Stay tuned for new episodes of Ahsoka, released on Disney+ on Tuesdays at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
