In Rebels, Kanan is instructed by the Bendu, an ancient Force-sensitive creature, on how to perceive without relying solely on his eyes. The Bendu urges Kanan to release all other distractions and focus solely on the Force, using his hearing to gauge his surroundings, detecting vibrations through his feet, and attuning to the emotions and physical sensations of those near him through the Force. According to the Bendu, as long as Kanan comprehends his place in the world, within the Force, and in relation to others, he will never truly be blind. Ahsoka, in a similar vein, asks Sabine to adopt the same approach during the third episode of Ahsoka, guiding her to "see" with more than just her eyes. Ahsoka encourages Sabine to follow her voice, observe her surroundings, and intuit her intentions. Both the Bendu and Ahsoka aim to expand Kanan's and Sabine's perception of the world beyond mere visual detection, encompassing hearing, smell, touch, and the power of the Force. Only then can Kanan begin to reestablish his connection with the Force, and only then will Sabine genuinely embrace her potential and trust her abilities.
The Star Wars Rebels Parallels Show Sabine Will Call Upon The Force
The comparison between Sabine and Kanan's journeys in Star Wars serves a purpose beyond their close relationship and acknowledging Kanan's passing. It is highly likely that Sabine's journey will culminate in a similar way to Kanan's - by harnessing the Force with unwavering trust and determination, just as Kanan did in his final moments.
It should be noted that Sabine will not necessarily have to sacrifice her life like Kanan did. Kanan's use of the Force was a desperate measure to save his friends from an Imperial fuel tank explosion, including Sabine. In that moment, he became one with the Force and was granted his sight back, allowing him to see his loved ones one last time. When we say that Sabine's journey is comparable to Kanan's, it does not necessarily mean she will die. Rather, it suggests that towards the conclusion of her story in Ahsoka, Sabine may ultimately tap into the full extent of her Force abilities, just as her friend and mentor Kanan did.
