Fans of the Spider-Man franchise have been debating whether Shameik Moore, who portrays Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, would be a suitable choice to play the character in live-action films. Despite expressing his interest in taking on the role, Moore has faced criticism from some fans who believe that, at 28 years old, he is too old to accurately portray the young hero.
Moore has responded to critics on Twitter who are against his portrayal of Miles Morales in a live-action adaptation. He playfully dismissed their objections and has been vocal about his desire to portray the character on screen during the press tour for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. There are several avenues for this to become a reality.
When And Where Shameik Moore Could Play Miles Morales In Live-Action
The potential for live-action elements in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is exciting, especially given the introduction of characters like Venom's Mrs. Chen and Donald Glover's Prowler in the previous film. It would be interesting to see even more live-action content in the upcoming trilogy finale. One possibility could be having Moore make a cameo as Miles in a brief live-action sequence, similar to Glover's appearance in the previous film. This could be the perfect opportunity for Moore to play the character in live-action, as the MCU may want to cast a younger actor for the role when Miles is officially introduced. With Holland's Spider-Man having completed school, the door is open for a younger MCU Spider-Man, and Miles could be the perfect fit. Alternatively, if Marvel chooses to make the character older, perhaps as a college classmate of Peter's, Moore could potentially play Miles in the MCU.
Moore could also potentially play Miles Morales in the upcoming live-action Spider-Man movie focused on the character, which seems to be in development at Sony. This route may be more feasible for Moore, as a standalone film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe would give the studio more flexibility to cast a Miles closer to Moore's age or even a different iteration of the character altogether. This would offer Moore the opportunity to bring a fresh take on the hero without being confined to a specific version from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
