Michelle Williams impersonates Justin Timberlake while narrating Britney Spears’ memoir — and fans are saying “gimme more.”
Williams, 43, recently became the narrator for the audiobook version of Spears' novel, The Woman in Me. Since its release on Tuesday, October 24, listeners have been praising her exceptional performance, especially for a specific passage that mentions Timberlake, 42. In the one-minute excerpt, Spears fondly reminisces about her time in New York City with her former boyfriend when they unexpectedly encountered R&B artist Ginuwine.
One day, J and I were exploring unfamiliar parts of New York City. As we walked, we noticed a man wearing a large, flashy medallion. He had two imposing bodyguards by his side. J became excited and exclaimed loudly, "Hey, it's Ginuwine! What's up, my friend?"
Spears, reflecting on the incident, mentioned that 'NSync may have sometimes tried too hard to fit in. Spears' assistant, Felicia Culotta, found humor in the awkward encounter, but Timberlake appeared unfazed. "J wasn't even embarrassed," Spears recalled. "He simply shrugged it off and gave her a look that said, 'Okay, forget you.'"
Williams’ expert narration skills during the snippet, which has circulated via X (formerly known as Twitter), have garnered over nine million online views, earning praise from fans of the Dawson’s Creek alum.
One person commented, "These 15 seconds of Michelle Williams imitating Justin Timberlake, as described by Britney Spears, are absolutely mind-blowing." Another person wondered, "Could Michelle Williams' narration of Britney's memoir potentially receive an Oscar nomination?"
Please let me know if the remaining sections of the book are as amusing, and I'll promptly purchase it."
"In a groundbreaking statement made in the courtroom, Britney captivated the world, making an indelible impact on laws and demonstrating her extraordinary strength and courage," stated Jennifer Bergstrom, the publisher, in a press release. "I am certain that her memoir will have a similar profound effect, making it the publishing event of the year. We are immensely proud to finally assist her in sharing her story."
In her first book, Spears fearlessly delves into her relationship with Timberlake, her former partner from 1999 to 2002. She candidly revealed that both of them were unfaithful throughout their time together, with Timberlake betraying her on multiple occasions. Additionally, she bravely disclosed her personal experience of undergoing an at-home abortion after the "Cry Me a River" singer disclosed his apprehension about parenthood.
“I consented to not go through with the pregnancy,” she penned. “If the decision had been solely mine, I would have chosen differently. However, Justin had such strong convictions about not wanting to have children.”
Following the medical intervention, Spears asserted that her former partner “hoped that music might provide solace” and strummed his guitar while she curled up “weeping and sobbing” on the tiled bathroom floor.
Timberlake has yet to publicly address Spears’ book allegations. However, according to an exclusive source, he is making an effort to separate himself from the memoir. The insider revealed that Justin and Britney’s relationship is from the distant past, and he now leads a completely different life. With his focus on his family, career, and looking ahead, Timberlake wishes to leave all past events behind them.
