Megan Thee Stallion and Reneé Rapp cannot be held responsible for your infatuation with them. In the initial teaser for the movie version of the Mean Girls musical, 28-year-old Megan collaborated with 23-year-old Rapp on the song "Not My Fault." The song shows Rapp and the "Cobra" rapper reworking a well-known line from Lindsay Lohan's character, Cady Heron, to Janis Ian (Lizzy Caplan) in the original 2004 film, transforming it from an accusation to a declaration of being a "hot girl."

"Singing at the start of the track released on Friday, December 15, Rapp croons, 'It's not my fault, you came with her but she might leave with me. It's not my fault, you've gotta pay for what I get for free.' He then encourages listeners to 'Get her number, get her name, get a good thing while you can, kiss a blonde, kiss a friend, can a gay girl get an amen?'

Megan follows with a verse that continues to play with the song's theme, declaring, 'I mean, who wouldn't wanna be in love with me? I'm a mood, borin' whores gotta Pinterest me.' Later in her verse, she references Mean Girls and even name-drops Regina George, portrayed by Rachel McAdams in the original movie. (Rapp, who played the character in Mean Girls' Broadway run, reprises the role in the upcoming film)."

Megan spits, "Isn't it ironic how the popular girl gets all the opportunities," in her rap. "But I've been saying, I'm basically the Black Regina George / Rocking a bikini top and booty shorts, that's the Megan-core / You used to hate on me, now you're just gonna hate even more."

Megan and Rapp announced their collaboration in an Instagram video on Sunday, December 10. In the video, the rapper referred to Rapp as “the new fantastic plastic.” Then, on Wednesday, December 13, the pair revealed the song’s title and the album art, featuring a bootylicious image. Megan was decked out in pink for the occasion, while Rapp sported a black thong bodysuit with semi-transparent pink stockings. Rapp humorously mentioned, “Meg told me to put my ass out so I put my ass out,” via X (formerly Twitter).

In early December, McAdams, 45, expressed her admiration for Rapp, calling the Broadway star "amazing" in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. McAdams also shared her excitement to see Rapp's portrayal of Regina, stating, "It's such a great character. It's so much fun to play. I hope she has a great time with it. I can't wait to see it."

The upcoming Mean Girls film will premiere on Friday, January 12th, featuring Angourie Rice as Cady Heron and Moana's Auliʻi Cravalho as Janis. Tina Fey and Tim Meadows are set to reprise their roles, with a star-studded cast including Bebe Wood, Avantika Vandanapu, and Jon Hamm.
