At the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit launch party on May 16, where the 2024 issue and 60th anniversary were celebrated, 76-year-old Maye playfully commented on Elon's usual style. When asked if she gives style advice to her 52-year-old son, Maye simply replied, "No."

"She mentioned that he only has time for T-shirts. He always buys new ones, and they are usually either SpaceX or Mars-themed. In addition to Elon, Maye is the mother of son Kimbal, 51, and daughter Tosca, 49.

At the Thursday soirée, Maye looked stunning in a red sequin tunic dress. She paired it with strappy crimson sandal heels and dangling crystal earrings. Her silver hair was styled in a curled comb over, and she added a rosy lip color to complete her look."

In an interview with People, Maye expressed her wish for her cover to inspire women of all ages. She hoped it would help women in their seventies feel more confident when swimming, as well as women in their twenties and thirties.
