Twitter owner Elon Musk was booed during the recent Valorant Champions Tour, showing that he is not popular among the VCT crowd.
The crowd even began chanting "bring back Twitter" in response to Musk's arrival, underscoring their discontent with the alterations he has implemented on the platform. Musk's contentious actions, including the rebranding of Twitter and his desire to eliminate the Block button, have been met with condemnation, and his appearance at the Valorant event only contributes to his divisive image.
During the recent Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) in Los Angeles, Twitter owner Elon Musk was met with boos. The VCT tournament brought together the top 16 teams from around the world, all competing for the coveted VCT trophy. As the event took place in Los Angeles, both attendees and those watching the livestream had the opportunity to see familiar faces, including well-known figures such as Ben Affleck, who is known to main KAY/O and voiced dissatisfaction with Jett's nerfs. However, Elon Musk did not experience the warmest reception from the VCT crowd.
During the grand finals between Evil Geniuses and Paper Rex, Musk was seen watching in the crowd on the live broadcast. However, he was immediately met with boos from the audience. Jake Lucky shared a clip on Twitter showing that the feed quickly returned to the game when the boos began. Shortly after, there were loud chants of "Bring back Twitter" in the background.
In response to Lucky's tweet, many Valorant fans found the "Bring back Twitter" chants amusing. Lucky even joked that this reaction might persuade Musk to revert the major revamp of Twitter.
Since acquiring Twitter in late 2022, Musk has been facing criticism for the changes he has made to the platform. Last month, he rebranded it as "X" and replaced the recognizable blue bird logo with an X in a black box. More recently, Musk faced backlash for his proposal to remove Twitter's Block button, which many users, particularly women, argued would compromise their safety on the platform. However, the feature remains intact as Apple and Google require apps to include a Block button. In addition to his various business ventures, Musk made headlines when he publicly challenged Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a cage match. While Zuckerberg appeared serious about the fight, Musk has reportedly been avoiding the challenge. It seems that Musk might prefer an FPS tournament against Zuckerberg, as he was recently spotted participating in a live Valorant event.
