In the recent episode of Dancing With the Stars, Mauricio Umansky opened up about the personal circumstances that led to his recent mistake. Prior to his performance, the trailer for the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which focused on his marital issues with wife Kyle Richards, was released. Umansky expressed that he was aware his children were in the audience, but he did not take the opportunity to discuss the situation with them. Umansky shared these sentiments with his partner Emma Slater during the episode that aired on Tuesday, October 10.
During the October 3 episode of DWTS, Umansky and Slater, 34, encountered a slight hiccup in their salsa routine when Umansky lost his place in the choreography. However, they quickly adapted and continued with the performance. Umansky credited the support of fan votes for helping him stay in the competition, expressing his gratitude on Instagram after the show.
Interestingly, this mishap occurred on the same day that the trailer for season 13 of RHOBH was released. In the trailer, some of Richards' fellow cast members raised doubts about her marriage to Umansky.
Garcelle Beauvais asked if Richards would remain in the marriage if there was infidelity, to which the 54-year-old responded with uncertainty. The trailer also delved into the rumors surrounding Richards' connection with country singer Morgan Wade, revealing a scene where Richards tattoos the letter "K" for Kyle onto Wade's body.
"Kyle, what's happening? You've engraved the initial of your name on her skin," Dorit Kemsley questioned her fellow cast member. Richards, in reply, simply shrugged.
In July, we verified the reports of troubles in Richards and Umansky's 27-year-long marriage. The couple, who have three daughters together - Alexia (27), Sophia (23), and Portia (15) - later issued a joint statement on Instagram, acknowledging their marital difficulties but clarifying that divorce is not on the table.
"We have endured a difficult year, the most trying thus far in our marriage," they expressed. "However, we share an immense love and respect for one another. No wrongdoing is involved from either party. Despite being in the public eye, we kindly request to address our challenges privately."
Umansky openly acknowledges how DWTS has served as a source of solace during the struggles within his marital relationship.
"I am experiencing a sense of youthful delight reminiscent of when I was 15 years old. Engaging in dancing and managing the various stresses I am currently facing has been highly beneficial for me," he shared with TMZ in September. He further expressed that participating in the show has had an immensely therapeutic impact on him. "The timing of this opportunity could not have been more perfect."
Following a stumble during the DWTS episode aired on October 3, Umansky successfully regained the judges' favor on October 10.
"Now I understand the source of your frustration last week, as your dancing abilities are truly impressive. You possess a remarkable smoothness," complimented Carrie Ann Inaba to the real estate broker. "Your performance was filled with grace and sophistication. Convince me to invest in some real estate. Please note that I am not flirting, just engaging in conversation."
Derek Hough praised Umansky and Slater's Foxtrot, stating that it displayed a significant advancement from the previous week.
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
