Location of Voltfin Trout and Its Uses

Cooked Voltfin Trout in Tears of the Kingdom possess shock-resistant properties and are also utilized in specific armor upgrades. However, they are not as abundant as Hyrule Bass or Ancient Arowana. To gather them for armor upgrades, one should explore the Hebra region.

It is advised to gather more than 10 Voltfin Trout before using them for cooking or upgrades since they are rare in Tears of the Kingdom. Enhancing most of the armor that was not present in Breath of the Wild requires premium materials. Due to the patching of the item-duplication glitch in version 1.1.2, the farming process for Voltfin Trout can be time-consuming for TotK players.

To catch a Voltfin Trout, head to either the Hebra Plunge or Tama Pond. If you're exploring the Hebra Plunge, it's crucial to have at least level 1 cold-resistant armor, such as the Snowquill Set from Rito Village. For the colder areas, level 2 armor is necessary. If you don't have enough rupees for armor, you can create Chilly Elixirs with Monster Parts and a Cold Darner or Winterwing Butterfly. The effectiveness of the elixir increases with the number of Darners or Butterflies added.

Activating the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower can make finding the Hebra Plunge and Tama Pond easier, although it is not required. It's recommended to take a photo of a Voltfin Trout to add it to the Hyrule Compendium and track it using the Sensor. To obtain the Sensor, players need to get the Auto Build Ability from the Abandoned Central Mine and complete a series of side quests to unlock the full effects of the Purah Pad with Robbie.

To locate the Voltfin Trout in the game, players can use the Compendium feature. They simply need to open the map with (-), change the Sensor's Target by tapping the Y-button, and then navigate to the Creatures section in the Hyrule Compendium. However, it's important to note that this method only works if the Voltfin Trout has been previously photographed.

Tama Pond Location

To reach Tama Pond, players can launch from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower, travel from the Oromuwak Shrine, or make their way from Rito Village. Alternatively, they can dive from one of the Sky Islands above the pond, such as The Wind Temple. However, since remote bombs are not available in Tears of the Kingdom, players will need to either swim after or shoot the Voltfin Trout with arrows. Attempting to use a bomb flower will result in the fish becoming Roasted Trout, which will render them useless for upgrading armor.

Equip the Zora Armor or Vah Ruta Divine Helm to swim faster.

Hebra Plunge Location

Players can easily access the Hebra Plunge from the same locations used to reach Tama Pond, such as Oromuwak Shrine and Rito Village. The Hebra Plunge coordinates are -3086, 2119, 0121.

When exploring the Hebra Plunge, it's crucial to have cold-resistant gear on hand. The frigid waters make it difficult to spot the elusive Voltfin Trout, which should be collected carefully to avoid turning them into Frozen Trout. While Frozen Trout can't be cooked, they provide heat-resistance and are considered a separate meal, much like Roasted Trout. It's best to refrain from using arrows to catch these fish to prevent unintentional damage.

Players can also find Chillfin Trout in these waters (just as they can at Tama Pond), so make sure Link is farming the right type of trout.

Where to Use Voltfin Trout

When Voltfin Trout is incorporated into a dish, it grants the meal with Shock Resistance. The strength of the effect is determined by the number of trout used, resulting in a greater HP recovery and longer-lasting buff. This resistance proves to be beneficial when facing off against Electric Keese or Thunder Gleeoks.

To fully enhance the Charged Armor Set obtained from "The Fifth Sage" main quest, players must acquire 10 Voltfin Trout per piece, which adds up to 30 for the entire set. However, for those solely seeking the Set Bonus, leveling the armor pieces to level 2 will suffice. The game is now accessible on Nintendo Switch.
