Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater goes beyond mere stealth gameplay. This game boasts an exceptional level of interaction with the environment, setting it apart from other games released in 2004. An important aspect of the game involves interrogating enemies.
Building upon the system introduced in Metal Gear Solid 2, where Snake and Raiden could extract items and dog tags from enemies, Metal Gear Solid 3 takes it a step further. Here, Naked Snake uses his knife and intimidating tactics to extract valuable information from his adversaries. The following guide will detail the benefits of interrogating enemies in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and the correct techniques to avoid raising an alarm.
Why Interrogate Enemies?
It is the best way to learn vital information about the game world.
There are hidden codec frequencies guards will reveal.
Guards also disclose the whereabouts of concealed objects.
The 2004 video game is brimming with countless hidden surprises and tactics that empower Snake to outsmart his adversaries and counter their extensive arsenal.
How To Interrogate
The most effective strategy for discovering these tactics is by interrogating enemies, rather than relying on a guide. This method not only unveils the whereabouts of special items, but also divulges secret codec frequencies that unlock hidden songs and provide healing for the player. All of this valuable information can be gleaned from the different enemies who patrol the surrounding area.
Slowly approach a guard while their back is turned.
Hold the melee attack button to put them in a chokehold.
Press and push in the left analog stick to initiate the interrogation.
First and foremost, it is essential for players to maintain stealth and avoid attempting an interrogation while in an active alert state. In order to execute an interrogation, the enemy must first be subdued by placing them in a chokehold. There are two methods to achieve this. The first approach involves players utilizing the d-pad to stealthily approach the enemy without alerting them to Snake's footsteps.
When Snake is in close proximity to an enemy, players should engage the melee button, triggering an animation in which Snake gains a firm hold on the adversary. Alternatively, players can swiftly approach the enemy and, once in proximity, activate the melee button. This action causes the enemy to turn around; however, if the player acts swiftly, it can be accomplished without alerting the enemy. It is crucial for players to either be unarmed or equipped with a weapon that bears the label "CQC" in the item box.
Now that they are in a chokehold, push in the left stick and Snake will hold a knife to their throat and tell the enemy to speak. The enemy will then reveal the information.
What To Do After Interrogating The Enemy
Either knock the enemy out or kill them by choking them to death or slitting their throats.
Hide the body either in a locker or out of the way of enemy patrols.
There is no need to hide a body if Snake leaves the area quickly before there is a chance for it to be discovered.
Players must find a way to dispose of the guard without alerting their comrades. To lethally eliminate the enemy, players can either choke the guard until snapping their neck or slit their throat by pressing the left trigger. For a non-lethal approach, players can choke the guard until they see stars circling above their head.
If players plan on staying in the area, they should hide the body to prevent discovery by other enemies. However, if players leave the area promptly, they need not worry about this. Snake will be in the clear once the name of the new area appears on screen.
