A talented and creative Pokemon enthusiast has artistically reimagined various Pokemon from generations one and two in the iconic style of Van Gogh's Starry Night. Consisting of a total of nine captivating images, these Van Gogh-inspired Pokemon illustrations are an absolute must-see for any dedicated Pokemon fan with an appreciation for timeless art.
Not many video game franchises have managed to inspire such a remarkable outpouring of fan art as Pokemon. Devoted followers of this beloved franchise delight in expressing their adoration for their favorite Pokemon through inventive depictions of new evolutions or by incorporating them into famous works of art, both classical and contemporary. True Pokemon fan art often exhibits vibrant colors, dynamic compositions, and meticulous attention to intricate details.
Reddit user siinastah shared a picture on the Pokemon subreddit featuring a marvelous collection of fan art resembling Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Siinastah revealed that they utilized Apple’s iPad app Procreate and Adobe Photoshop to skillfully draw and color each artwork. The captivating image comprises various Pokemon, including some of their final evolutions. Notable inclusions are Blastoise, the Water-type Pokemon from the first generation; Charizard, a Fire and Flying-type Pokemon also from the first generation; Tyranitar, a second generation Pokemon with Rock and Dark attributes resembling a dinosaur; and Gengar, a Ghost and Poison-type Pokemon from the first generation.
Additionally, this impressive image showcases several legendary and mythical Pokemon such as Lugia, a Psychic and Flying-type introduced in the second generation. Furthermore, the iconic psychic types from the first generation, Mew and Mewtwo, are depicted in this unique style, with Mewtwo emanating an intimidating aura while Mew gazes innocently towards the sky.
The last two Pokemon in this artwork are Cubone and Umbreon. Cubone, a lonely Rock Pokemon, gazes at the starry sky with a wistful longing, perhaps missing its mother. On the other hand, Umbreon, an evolution of Eevee and Dark type Pokemon, seems to show fear towards something beyond the frame.
These beautiful drawings, inspired by Van Gogh's style, arrived at the perfect moment. The Pokemon Company had to apologize to its fans due to a recent incident during a Pokemon exhibit at the Van Gogh Museum. Attendees were hoping to obtain the special Pokemon promo card called "Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat," but unfortunately, scalpers had already taken control of the area. Consequently, the Van Gogh-inspired promo card was later sold at ridiculous prices on eBay, leaving fans feeling frustrated. Hopefully, this Starry Night-inspired Pokemon fan art can bring some joy to those who have been disappointed.
